Hi (newbie here)

Has anyone driven from south Spain to Croatia in January and if so what route did you take and did you need snowchains/socks?

We would like the easiest route possible and don't mind paying tolls for better roads.

Thank you

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry I can't help, hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly.

Hi and welcome! I’ve driven from near Malaga to Croatia in March… so a bit later in the year. We followed the main coast route to Genoa, then took the A7 before picking up the E70 as far as Trieste… then just a quick trip through Slovenia into Croatia. This was a few years ago and we were running out of ‘Schengen days’ so we didn’t make many stops but if we had more time we’d have chosen a different route and seen a lot more of Italy on the way through.

The roads were all good and I’d expect they’ll be fine in Jan/Feb as we stuck to major roads that will be kept clear of snow. We have all season tyres but never needed them for snow on this trip.

Have a great trip.
