Spacers for Alloy Wheels

I too would be very wary of machining them as well.

Alloy wheels are made for a certain loading and removing material changes that, you have no way of knowing what’s safe and what isn’t.

Spacers alter the geometry and put more strain on suspension components.

You need new wheel bolts whatever you decide.

Personally, I would flog the wheels and get the proper ones. If budget is tight, a scrapyard would be much safer and won’t be as expensive as machining them.

I don’t think I am “messing about”. I’ve recognised I have a problem with my van and I’m attempting to understand that problem and determine the proper solution with the help of members of this forum - after all, isn’t that one of the principle benefits of Motorhome Fun. Meanwhile, my van is sitting on my drive doing no harm to anyone.
I don't think he means you are messing about per se, more that people are suggesting things that are, to be honest, bodges of some form or another as most will not have the necessary skills and experience to offer a safe solution.

If you do go ahead and fit spacers, get the wheels machined or the hubs altered you could well be invalidating your insurance due to an unsafe modification, not to mention the risk to your own safety and that of other road users.

Please take professional advice from someone who is qualified to assess the situation and give you the correct 'fix'. I suspect that will be to change the wheels for the correct size which won't be cheap but how much is your life and other people's lives worth?

I didn't necessarily mean you personally, I just don't think a lot of suggestions are sensible.
The wheel are clearly the wrong ones for the vehicle & the safest option would be to change them for correct wheels.

come on you said you have known about this for a year. disgraceful ..get shot of them dont machine them dont space them, you have had your doubts for a year...and now you have broardcast it hear ....but hey ho if the wheel wobbled off u would probably be ok jack ;but its the poor person the wheel hits.......and wen u sell them on dont sell as ducato wheels.

They said they have known about it since last year, not for a year, so possibly only a month, and they have also said their van is sitting stationary, not being used. As such it isn’t causing anyone any harm, and doesn’t warrant your unpleasant reply.

the rear wheels have been compromised the ally is slowly eating and working its way into the steel hub probably'the wheel dosent sit square against the hub .the bolts are probably at wrong torque setting and pulling into the counter sunk wheel holes so the wheel will be slightly on the skew causing strain on the wheel the bolts and the hub and bearing ,the hub will expand and contract with heat causing bolts to work loose.and if some one has put wrong wheels the bolts are probably wrong as well .and i could go on.,,as for unpleasant well it will be if the wheel breaks up on a pot hole or flys off .....the motor should not be on the road with those wheels ,this is danger to road users lets not sugar coat it and mince about

It’s not currently on the road. It is parked up whilst the OP researches into options. So the OP is doing the correct thing, and no one is at risk as the vehicle isn’t being used. There is no need to be rude to them. I suggest you read all the posts.

They had no idea they had a problem. The problem was shown to them, they parked the vehicle up, and stopped using it whilst researching into a safe solution.

No rudeness is required.

Why just the rear wheels?

dont know where i got that from all wheels will need checking and probably changing i dont mind being corrected .but the wheels are still wrong for the motor and it should not be on the road

It isn't... she's doing the sensible thing and looking to get it sorted, helping rather than castigating would be better.
