But it depends on what you consider safe of how much trouble you go to
Our main goal was to be on the sea front parking with a sea veiw during the day and its free .near the pier (actually oposite the bowling green as that doesnt restrict any veiw from peoples houses.
We booked a site for the night 5minutes from southwould and got up early to arive in southwould at 7am and plenty of spaces free.

When we arrive there were early there was clearly a couple of campers slept overnite
I dont think its enforced about sleeping overnight however we do like quite places not next to the road which is why we thought it worth camping for the cost of £19 cant remember it name but it was a fishing lake place off the main rd into Southwould

Are you thinking of wild camping - roadside quiet village and then moving early to the seafront

Dunwich although no overnight camping in the small campsite there is Cliff House not too far away
