South of France January 2022 - Planning and Going!

France is tightening Covid restrictions for travellers arriving from the UK, as the government in Paris tries to slow the spread of the Omicron variant.
.....

so tourism should still be ok.
at least for now !
Is that an attempt at irony?

O the benefits of Brexit yet again. Only involves Non EU residents
“French and EU nationals, as well as residents in France, are exempt.”
Please Brexiters tell me just one benifit??

Yes, that's at the back of my mind I have to admit.

Especially as of today she is demanding more money from Westminster to support Scottish businesses over Christmas and into the New Year, not that she will ever say Thank You when she does get some.

Indeed but if she decides to make it illegal to travel other than essential purposes it's got the same effect.

Not straying into politics, Les, but all Scots Tax revenues go to HM Treasury and around 60-65% is given back, so saying 'Thank you' for Scotland's own output really isn't necessary. The Scottish & Welsh Government contributions to HM Treasury cover England's deficit by some 125%.

For clarity, this Post is solely about the economics of the taxation distribution, nothing more

"Motorists may no longer be required to carry breathalysers from late 2020 following vote by French parliament. A law requiring all motorists driving in France to carry a breathalyser kit in their vehicle looks set to be scrapped, after the French parliament approved a draft bill that proposes to abolish it."
It always seemed a stupid law to me. If you are TT why do you need them? They are going to test you anyway with their machines if they suspect you are over the limit. Having done a negative DIY test is never going to b a defence

We use small oil filled radiator image.jpg to heat the van and a small electric kettle saved loads of gas used on aires and the camping car parks

Spending two weeks in France during January is for the birds I.M.O. Your going to freeze your cobs off, find most if not all campsites closed, same for Bars, restaurants etc and be heavily restricted from doing any of the tourist things one would normally do in France. I would strongly advise you wait until the weather is better regardless of how keen you are to to get away on your adventure. At present France is closed to UK travellers and I suspect that will not change during the whole of January, even if it did, it simply is not worth a short M'home trip between Jan-March.

It's all irrelevant anyway as it's shut, plus I'd already said about plan B ie Scotland, should have been in Inverness now to start the NC500 but of course covid finally got me :-(
