Sorting the toilet out.

another bit of advice, clean the toilet bowl thoroughly and give it a coat of car wax as used on the bodywork. Prevents staining and gives a non stick surface

oh and when you go to empty, don't do what some folk do and put water in to flush then slosh it vigorously side to side. You will break the internal mechanism and end up losing parts down the drain

Nobodies mentioned a SOG yet, this isn't real toilet talk until then.

Another plus for liquid is you can use it to do the washing so less to carry!

Bad advice, so ignore!

If you need to do both a number one and a number two in one sitting, keep the blade closed, do the number one first which then flushes away the number two instead of water!
Don't keep the blade closed, All the detrius accumulates at the blade edges when you open it and it takes more water etc to clean it off.

Just a little tip close your mouth as you empty the casette!!!

When emptying, I usually stand well behind the cassette using it as a shield between me and the Elsan. No need to get too close ! Also I never wear my best shoes especially canvas ones as these tend to absorb splashes.

I use the plastic disposable gloves you get from the petrol station and SWMBO insists I use alcohol gel on my hands afterwards otherwise I'm not allowed back in the van

Don't forget to make sure the cassette blade is closed before you remove the cassette and don't drive off with with it open. Don't ask how I know

There is a really good one where a lady starts to gag as she initially lifts the cassette to take it to the elsan. I don't know how to do links.

Another thing in the loo instructions is to be careful opening the blade if you have just driven up a mountain as the pressure inside the casette could be higher than outside

For the men (only traveling alone) use the sink in the bathroom to pee or the shower - less in the cassette and no splashing on the legs....

Spray with antibacterial after of course..

Someone told me that.... ;) ...

......honest
We had one "Old Man" (Captain, Sir!!). Who did Sunday inspection rounds with the Bosun carrying a Gallon can of Jeyes Fluid, which he duly put a large "Slug" of, down the wash sink in each cabin. He did it because in his words "You buggers all pee in the sinks at night". I wonder how he knew?.;)
