Something that puzzles me about solar panels.

It's simple. No power is generated if the panel isn't connected to anything. :)
Potential is created when the sun shines on the solar panel. The potential creates a current when wires are connected to a resistance (battery). Energy is then converted from light (sun)to electricity them to chemical energy in the battery. Then back to electrical to any load in the battery then ( usually) ends up as heat resulting in global warming.

Think of it like a mirror

It’s always there

It only works as far as you concerned when you look into it

You wouldn’t ask “But what is the mirror doing with the reflections when I am not looking into it?

Now think of you as the battery, and the mirror as the solar panel

When the battery is there, the solar panel works, when it’s not there, to all intents and purposes, it doesn’t

Ah, so it’s like my employees! When I’m there they work, when I’m not, to all intents and purposes, they don’t!:D
