Something fishy

Our V5c lists first registration (2003) and not manufacturers date (1995 for the Ducato, 1996/97 for the habitation). It was imported from Germany in 2003. It doesn't look dodgy as it has either a private reg no or a Northern Irish reg.

If your interested in it go and have a look and check the date stamp code on the tyres.

One would hope that a 2002/2006 reg van would not have original tyres on now.
Would be slightly knackered by now I think. :Eeek: :Eeek: :Eeek:

Dvla and Dvsa do make mistakes I have had at least 4 cars for mot with the wrong fuel type listed and a classic with the wrong model listed, and a car from guernsey I think that was a different registration date to manufacturer, years ago they just registered stuff when it came in to the country, I think Ex forces stuff can be a bit odd as well

This model has the pre 2002 taillights , decals , mirrors, front bumper , interior cabinets etc but has the post 2002/3 dash
No it doesn't, same as mine which is a late 2003.
Can't see dash properly but looks like the 244 with domed binicle. The earlier ones had a flatter wider binicle.
I think it's a 2003 ish that has stood around before registering, unless some import anomaly.

I said last night that due to the dash it was likely a 2003. It isn't any newer than that as from 2004 the sides were grey the interior cupboard handles were different the tailights , and front bumper is different as are the mirrors. The engine and gearbox also changed 2003 ...removing the 5th gear problem on the earlier ones

Think the Fiat base vehicle was upgraded in 2002 which included the oval binacle.

I ordered a B544 Classic in December 2001 from a German dealer. I was contacted in February 2002 to say there'd been a price increase due to the base vehicle upgrade. Took delivery in May 2002 - probably one of the first in the UK with the upgrade.

The green decals on the side were typical of earlier models, probably up to 2002. My Classic had predominately blue decals (no green).

Yeah that's right , the 2002/3 model was the changeover. On the chassis cab the whole front was remodelled with new headlights and grille, the engine slightly different, the gearbox had the 5th gear problem resolved etc

And then on the hymer side of things the paint, graphics and interior changed the following year.
So that's why I reckon it's 2003 at newest

The fact it's on an 06 plate is weird 3 years seems a long time to sit around unregistered but hey ho I'm not buying it I just stumbled over the add and thought it was an expensive van given how dated it is

I know if I was looking for one there's many other 06 reg vans for that money

Supposedly 18000 kilometres

You don't change motorhome tyres due to mileage usually , many are past the recommended time of change or have cracked sidewalls etc long before the tread is worn out.

Between 5 and 10 years old they should have been changed

Also it had 18000km in 2009 not at the minute.

I think it said 51000 now

I'm suspecting the pics don't go with the listing or that vans a ringer
Reg comes back as a fiat 2.8 JTD. Production of that engine stopped in 2006.

As for the 2009 MOT first MOT, that would be correct for 2006 vehicle. First MOT is at 3 years old.
Hmmm strange one.

I do apologise, I didn’t see 51000 mentioned anywhere

It’s quite possible the spare will be original, that will give you a definitive build date.
I bought my 2003 Burstner in 2018 and it still had the 2003 spare tyre ???

My 2008 Frankia had 2 tyres on it from 2006 so that doesn't work either.

There's nothing unusual about a MH sitting around and then not being registered until some years later, it doesn't happen that often but does happen.

We bought a new Swift Suntor 590RS previously which was a dealer (Brownstuff) special that had been sitting around for a while as the new facelift versions were due out in early 2002 so no-one wanted the older ones ... I think it was probably a year or so old when we bought it and it was registered in Sept 2001 (51 plate).

We had a Rimor Sailer 645TC based on a Ford Transit Third generation model (last of the gear stick on the floor design), it had been standing around for over a year at the dealer we bought it from as they couldn't sell it - their customers were from the trails bike fraternity and for some reason a numpty ordered this one with a low bed so no bikes could fit underneath, hence it standing there all forlorn and unloved! We bought it at cost price as they just needed to sell it on as they had some new MHs due in imminently and needed the space (they only had a very small show area), so it was first registered as a 2006 (56) plate but in reality probably a 2004 model.

I hasten to add that we KNEW what we were buying at the time though.

Yeah but 3 plus years to be sat in Germany unregistered and then appear in UK is a little strange.

My concern was more that it's an older model and spec that the dealer is failing to take in to consideration in his pricing

It may have an 06 plate but a pre 03 spec and style but asking the price of a newer model

Some mug might buy it ....But I'd be inclined to look for an 06 spec at the same money elsewhere

Why bother if there is any doubt to it’s authenticity leave it there will always be another. But you only have one lot of money. Would you like to borrow my barge pole?

I'm not looking to buy it I just found it when looking for hymer parts for the one I have and as I have a 2004 that's how I spotted the inconsistencies

If a buyer is daft enough to purchase the MH without 'due dilligence' then there's nothing we can do about it ... there are a few people who do just that and then come on here to cry about it by which time it's too late to help unfortunately.

I agree about the pricing but that's up to the dealer and buyer, no different to someone buying a used car, some will pay silly money for the same one because they can't be bothered to travel 50 miles to get one elsewhere cheaper. We've travelled all over the place to buy cars, MHs ... scooters ... and have saved ourselves a LOT of dosh in the process.

Same worktops as my 2004 Adria, and in my installed in 2002 kitchen - if that is relevant!

Our Hymer has a date reference to just about every year from 2005 chassis, 2006 build, 2007 spec, 2008 ? Dealer stock, then Sold and registered 2009

The difference with ours was it was the first of the new shape, so not so obvious, but similar story

We bought it used unknowing about the history , not overly bothered, it is all about the relative value I guess
