We are crossing to Dieppe on Monday then meandering down to Spain. I've been contemplating whether to take the snow chains or not as I have winter tyres.
I think the answer now is to take them.
We have the Toyo Observe winters too and toured the Alps for 5 weeks over Jan and Feb and didn't need the chains. They were brilliant. Noticed the better handling in colder weather. However, if you have the space then definitely chuck in the chains.

Mine haven't seen any snow yet but noticeably more sure footed in the wet.

I’ve traveled from Roscoff following a coastal aligned route and used the N roads stopping off at various points of interest, the last an overnight stay at the Megalithic Centre just outside Carnac. Absolutely incredible to see over 4 k of standing stones.
currently at a superb level site Camper Car . Pare Du Jonc , about 3 k outside Jean Du Mont off the D38, as recommended by Alan Russell in his ‘The best Aires in France’.
With regards to weather; occasional shower but mainly blue skies with cloud. Cold at 9 to 11 degrees during the day.Today 3 April pure blue sky, no cloud and very bright.

We arrived on Wednesday and it has rained and snowed ever since. Very very cold. Currently in the Loire valley on one of the Camping Car Park aires plugged into the mains and waiting for it to pass over. We had to stop for a while on the way down as visibility was dangerously low in heavy snow. Can't believe it! This wasn't the plan at all.
We got caught out yesterday in very heavy snow about 20kms from St Etienne couldnt turn round either due to heavy snow either side of Rd terrifying couldn't see very well either. We have been away 2 months very disappointed with weather had all 4 seasons, started off good but went downhill end of February. But, we weren't at home bored out of our minds its been an adventure. Back home soon oh yeah it's gonna rain for a week at least 😆

Well it’s cold when the sun isn’t out but here on the side of the river at Grenade sur l’Adour it was a nice start to the day.

We are off to Les Deux Alpes For the 5th time. We stay at Champ du Moulin in the village of Venosc below. It’s a fab campsite. We take the gondola up to L2A and then it’s only a short walk to the main lifts. Sadly I have had thumb surgery so just spectating and relaxing for me this year.
You won't be missing a lot. It's mostly ice in the morning and slush in the afternoon. Ski 10 to 2 then long (very) long lunch!

Fresh snow due so shouldn’t be too bad. It’s our 5th time, so used to conditions and school worker here sadly so not a lot of choice of timings. :giggle:

I in Benidorm at present sunny but very cold wind
Been so much rain in the last few weeks that’s for sure

If they were in the UK, they would have an electric fence around them, armed guards, a Macdonalds, be catagorised as a National Monument and the National Trust would charge at least £50 to veiw them from a safe distance.
In France "quelques rochers"
But as you say, incredible.

Good luck on that crossing. Last Thursday we arrived at Dieppe nice and early for a Friday 05.00 sailing to Newhaven. My sons wedding was on Saturday so no question we wanted to get back to blighty.
After seeing how rough the sea looked I phoned DFDS to check everything was fine to be told 'yes, sailing as scheduled'
So we enjoyed a wet and windy few hours in Dieppe (actually an interesting town!) before going for the traditional Moules Frites in preparation for a few hours shut-eye.
Half-way through the meal the phone rang to be told our sailing was cancelled (vague stuff about weather and technical issues). We could wait until Friday at 16.30 or 'cancel and make other arrangements'. Despite pushing we got nowhere with asking them to sort something better out.
So with no other choice we set out in the blizzard for Calais and got half-way before the foul conditions forced a stop for the night.
Eventually we arrived at the port at 11.00 am. During the mornings drive I managed to arrange a transfer of my sailing to DFDS Calais to Dover. This was due to depart at 11.50. It eventually left at 2 PM.
I have now read that part of the problems at Dover are a DFDS ship having a collusion at Dunkirk so wonder if they nicked ours to try and ease the load on that route?
If only they'd told me earlier we could have had a less stressful and safer drive to Calais in daylight.
So my next issue is going to be trying to claim for the almost 200 extra miles we had to drive, should be interesting....
I should add I like sailing that route and it's a competitive price.

We have been using Newhaven/Dieppe for years only ever had one canceled, Feb before last due to weather. They got us on the 11pm the same day, they did warn us it might get canceled & I managed to blag a cabin for £15, oh boy it was a rough crossing.
