Snow chain size?

Do you still need winter tyres if you carry chains??
If you are expecting to drive in snow a fair bit I would. The chains only work really when there's a couple of inches of snow if its patchy they will quickly become knackered. If you take them off if the roads not clear summer tires won't grip very well. When we moved to North Yorkshire I had all season tyres fitted a lot better than summer ones not quite as good as snow tires in the snow. Of course there has been no snow yet!!!

Does anyone know which size snow chains we’d need for a Globecar campscout?
Heading to Panticosa Spain next week.
If on grass which wheels slip front or back or look underneath and see if it has a propshaft going from gearbox to back axel

Thanks
We got some snow socks which is all there was in Norwich. We won’t be going very high and won’t be overnighting high either - just for a few ski trips in the day.
How do I find if my vehicle is front or back wheel driven? It’s not in any of the specs I can find. It’s a Globecar Campscout 2013 model.,-any ideas? The socks need to go on the operational wheels
Look underneath if it has a propshaft going from the gearbox to back axel it’s rear wheel drive

Just out of interest, has anyone come across Rud Rotogrip?
An interesting snow chain permanently fixed to the van and deployed when needed.
Probably pretty expensive, but what a great idea!
Do a google search and take a look. ?

If you expect snow get proper snow tyres and chains from a proper supplier, an extra couple of quid will make the difference when you’re sliding about, snow socks only for moving around on campsite or aire, all good fun?

We are now heading through France on mainly non peage roads (outside La Rochelle today) and still need snow chains. Does anyone know which large French store is likely to carry them? We see Bricolage all over for example.

from last november france as well

We got some before in big branches of leclerc or Carrefour. That was for a car. Another place to try would be a tyre fitter on one of those retail parks you seem to pass on the edge of every town.
