Dynamic Duo Report

While Smudger is "doing stuff" in the Monster, JJ and Wildman made the short trip to Quinta Majay. (see attached photos)

For regular "chatters" one of the shots shows Roger in the Circle of Olives where the Dance of the Virgins will take place....

Any Funsters wanting to know more must find out in the Chat Room...

The Monster has an electrical problem and a man is coming to try to sort it. If successful the "group" might move south to Santa Susana today... if not... who knows... we are Funsters on the road!

JJ

PS. This was posted from Quinta Majay...

My God JJ, what a rich imagination you have, pray tell me where are you going to find the virgins? and do you know one when you meet one?

Doug...

that looks to be very triangular for a circle there jj or will the circle be within the confines of the triangle.

Glad to see Roger and Smudger got there ok.

Poor old Roger, looks like he has lost some weight. Aren't you feeding him Smudger. Mind you he looks better for it.:Wink:
Have FUN everyone, wish I was with you all, maybe next time.

Lesley

Who's the grumpy looking hairy thing? is that the virgin?

Thanks for the photos JJ

I love the one of Roger in the 'Cirlce of Olives' waiting for the virgins to appear :Rofl1:

I shall log in again soon to see where they are (and if they've got lost).

Should someone have notified 'International Search & Rescue' about this band of aged delliquents on the loose in foreign parts

Thanks for all the witty and wise comments and obversations.

The boys are handling the stress of the breakdown well.

The electrical fault requires a new part from USA (already ordered and on its way) and/or a temporary repair which may or may not be done today.

So there are many "if this then we do that" options but nothing has been decided yet.

Will keep you all posted...

JJ

Friends are as Friends Do...

Question.

If you were trying to ease your painful disappointment over some sporting result (I don't want to talk about it) with a cool beer in the Portuguese sunshine...

would a true friend........................................................

Roger isn't in the beast nor in a new bus Terry, he's travelling in Doc's (aka Smudger aka Derek) bus!

Amicalement

JJ Thanks for the pictures of the broken bit, just to satisfy my engineering mind can you tell us what it is please ??

It looks to me like it might be part of a fuel pump but that's 90% guesswork

Hope they get it sorted one way or the other and get on their way again soon.

Hi Losos... it is the coiled plastic tape containing the electrical connections for the horn, wipers and cruise control. It sits in the steering wheel console. It allows the electrical connections to remain as the steering wheel turns back and forth... very basic engineering but useless if the tape/wire breaks.

No progress today.

The man who might be able to repair the old part doesn't get back from Holland until tomorrow...

No news of where the new part (which is meant to have been dispached from the USA) is at the moment.

We sit and wait...

The Monster needed a drop or two of water (100 gallons?) so JJ drove it around to the nearest tap (250 yards).... Brmmm Brmmm Brmmm

(Using Smudgers login but postedbe JJ)

Hi Doc

You keep your hat on.

The sun must be getting at you if you are letting JJ anywhere near that monster of yours.

We gather he cannot tell the back from the front let alone be safe to drive it.

Have a good time Alan

Thanks JJ that has satisfied my curiosity. It's always the silly little things which cause the most havoc isn't it!! I will log in again tomorrow to see how things are progressing.

Very quick progess report,

Maybe the Potuguese will win the race with the USA to get the Monster on the road (at least temporarly...

The truck spares place here in Ansiao found a guy to fix the broken part by replacing the damaged wires/tape and should deliver it ready for refitting at 3.30. The auto electrician is booked for 4pm to do the deed...

More later...

JJ

Fingers crossed, hope you guys get to start your tour soon.

THE MONSTER LIVES

The repaired wiring is working...

The steering wheel turns without blowing the horn...

The wipers work as does the cruise control...

Planned tour continuation to start at 2.00ish tomorrow.

Watch this space...

Thanks for the update JJ - I will certainly be watching, this saga has developed more suspense than a James Bond novel :Rofl1: (Even 'tho the Olive Grove virgins never appeared )

The Three Musketeers arrive at the Barragem at Pego do Alter despite the failure of the repaired part after only a few miles... so Smudger has no wipers!!!

Luckily there wasn't too much rain and indeed there was more sun than rain this afternoon.

We were met by my (JJ) friends Mick and Julie... Smudger chose his spot... Wildman was out of the cab and wanted to distribute MHF cards aroung the many motorhomes here and Mel (Koffee) rushed over to meet the Duo. JJ sat his Multimo Sat Dish on Mick and Julie's trailer and had the City Bolton match live in the Wagon while baking a Fray Bentos Pie in rapid time.

The two screams of "Goal" might have disturbed our French neighbours but tomorrow I will say sorry and tell them I know Frankie which should sort it out!!!

The only snag is there is no 3G signal here on Vodafone only GPRS so posting and surfing is sloooowww.

I will try to put up photos tomorrow...

JJ

Well done City... 3 more points

Have you voted in the photo competition yet?

Bad error in my last post...

Mel (and Christine) are of course "heyupluv" not "Koffee" who are Ian and Sue.

The mobile phone is frying my brain...

Apologies to all concerned...

JJ

Checking if I can post pictures on this slow connection...

Hoorah! I can...

I let the Monster overtake so I can take this piccy... I would like to point out that there were no other vehicles in sight at this time...
