Smelly grey waste - could this be the answer?

Our waste water tank has never smelt. But that may be because we never put ANY waste water or other liquids from washing up or cooking down the kitchen sink. In fact, fresh water from the tap, when getting the hot and cold water system working after drain down, is the only liquid that goes down it. Same in the last van we had for over five years.

Water when teeth cleaning and washing goes down the bathroom waste, but that doesn't appear to cause a problem.

??????. But surely it all ends up in the same tank?. (it does in ours)

As for washing up, Why have the facility (like the shower as well) in the van, and not use it?. Never could understand all the "men" stood at the camper wash place washing pots and pans and freezing and then going back to a nice warm fully equipped motorhome?.

Our grey water stinks when we empty it. We're not bothered. It can't be smelt any other time as our traps seem to work.
Occasionally gets the coke treatment to clear out the crud. Drain valve is left open when in storage to let the air in.

Nothing to do with washing up, it's because they've gone for a natter or the wife wants some peace and quiet for a while so has kicked them out! :D

They are beginning to appear in some of the bigger British supermarkets.(y)

For many years now all we have brought back from France has been the bleach tablets (pastilles) and coffee.

In future we will have room for more coffee:)
,
No wine ???? BUSBY:D2:D2:D2

Presumably, you are collecting your dirty water in a bowl. What do you do with the water in the bowl? Throw it on the ground? Carry it to a drain?

Would think it would do no harm throwing the water that you had washed seafood onto the ground..Insects and other wildlife would soon dispose of any PARTICLES of food waste left in the water..BUSBY;)

Just ends up smelly for the next camper.

Many sites in France ask you to throw grey waste on the bushes etc to irrigate them,,have never noticed a smell ever,,Nature is fantastic,,,chemicals are not used in sewage farms,,just bacteria,,BUSBY:D

I wash up using campsite sinks to get away from listening to the Archers. Works for Mrs Augusta too.

Many A Truth in Jest!:D2

At one time (it may still be true) it was Official CC policy on rallies, where no designated grey water facility was provided by the site/owner, that ALL grey was distributed around the hedgerows. As Marshall`s we would issue those directions, and often had the job of backfill the "Elsan" pit too, after the event!.

If you go to France stock up on the pastilles they sell in all the supermarkets for freshening up drains and suchlike. They cost pennies, come in all sorts of flavours and work really well. Pop one tablet in the grey tank each time after you empty and the problem is solved. Can’t believe they don’t seem to sell them over here?
Sounds like a good idea but how do you get the pastille into the tank? Dissolve it in the sink then drain it down?

And minty shower gel makes the grey water smell lovely!!

I dont know if mine smells, I just open the tap a bit then drive off. All gone before next destination, ready to start again (y)

We just open the cap on the tank under the floor and pop one in but they must be soluble so should dissolve in a glass of water.
