For the bird lovers on MHF taken with Canon R3 and 100mm-500mm lens

How long did you wait for it to appear? We go quite regularly but I don't have enough patience to sit in the hide for long.

This one visited the branch 3 times in 2 days. It is situated at the side of the hide looking through the only opening window. There was no point in shooting at the nesting wall It is worth just sitting and chillin whilst waiting for something to happen. I did photograph the pair bonking but inexplicably completely overexposed the shots and my skills with Lightroom classic leave a lot to be desired

With my hobby of fishing and being near lakes for sometimes weeks on end, kingfishers seem quite a common bird to me, yet you suggested seeing it only twice in two days? Are they that rare?

No not really, we watched him and his mate going in and out of the hole in the earth wall, but he only land 3 times on the branch I was watching with camera trained. You don’t get them much above the English/Scottish borders but most everywhere else in UK.

Love kingfishers. Only seen them 3 times - all when away in MH. First in Killin, Perthshire, second in the Loire at Chenonceau and finally on Seine in Burgundy.

Never managed a photo though!
