Slamming PVC door

Having had a VW Westfalia for 40+ years, I found that just cracking the slide window open slightly to release the inside air pressure helps and now I have a Ducato PCV, I have fitted a handle near the back of the sliding door, just above the window (see picture). Not the most aesthetic work I have ever done but it does the job!

It really is that easy, add a strap!

If the sliding door is properly aligned (don't presume this will be the case straight out of the factory) and the runners well matained there should be no need to slam a sliding door.

I had a quick look at the pdf for making your remote key fob trigger the electric door opener. I can't get passed photo 1 where the gentleman is taking a sharp knife to the wiring loom - NOOO!!! Thats not for a novice like me to do

use a really sharp blade, a new stanley blade, and very little pressure to cut 1 layer of tape at a time. Open up enough to make the connections. Test it is working, then tape back up to keep moisture from the loom. Not as frightening as you think when you have done it once or twice

What you have to remember is that if it doesn't quite shut when pulled at the back, when you lock it the alarm goes off.

Yes that is exactly what I would like to sort. Thanks for the link to a strap above Borderland.

How do you quote a poster correctly? I thought it used to be the @ then the posters name. Also how do you insert a post as a quote so you can then reply?

Apologies in advance for ignorance of all this.

It looks as though the symbol did work when the posters name was preceded so that aspect is sorted?

Hit the button I highlighted in the red circle. You can delete anything not relevant from your quote when it pops up after hitting the button. (y)

Looked at fitting a motorised closer.....as said before, kitchen gets in the way.

Is this what you are looking for?

There were a few slightly tricky bits. The Remis window frame has to come off. Getting to some of the screws fixing the door liners was a fiddle. The handle has to lie fairly flat for the door to slide back. The bolts needed to be well secured to the door in view if the forces involved. Self tapping screws didn't seem up to the job.
I would agree with Le Hobo's advice about opening the side window which helps a bit.
None of the electric devices seem possible as the kitchen unit would obstruct the gear.
I can elaborate on how i fitted the bolts if needed.

I just used hexagon headed self tappers (with a little Lock-tight) purchased from Screwfix.
Do not need to open window on the larger Murvi Morello which, normally, has the overhead skylight open slightly while on campsite.
PS. you can get handles that hinge down and a small length of foam pipe insulation around the handle stops it rattling.

Hi @RichardJ yes that looks exactly like our Columbus 641e door. My practical abilities are VERY limited so any help with removing the door liner and the bolt fixing would be appreciated. Sent a PM. David
