Garry, many cities/ emmission zone areas now have ANPR cameras installed, eg, Rouen for one, so it makes sense to register for the Criti Air. I have resisted for years, but now find it a necessity for penalty free travel through France............on the routes we use.How will they fine you if you stray into a zone, police stop, camera, or…?

Summer time during the height of the hot weather, may see some folks either contravening city, or department emission regulations, due to not having registered for the appropriate Criti Air plakette

To avoid confusion the convention is to refer to left or right from the position of sitting in the driver's seat in the vehicle.Mine are fixed in bottom corner of screen on left looking from the front of the vehicle from outside, which I believe is correct.
Not when one is driving on the righthand side of the road, as in all mainland Europe. Position of the driver controls is irrelevant.Agreed if LHD but as mine is RHD and I'm guessing the OP's is also RHD then it's Offside.
I'm not conventional. To avoid confusion the convention is to refer to left or right from the position of sitting in the driver's seat in the vehicle.
