We are off to France for the first time in June for two weeks, following friends down to south coast who have been many times, staying 6 nights on site located next to beach, then making our way back up to the tunnel solo, stopping off at locations yet to be decided, is there a fools guide to mandatory legal requirements covering all aspects of our trip? We are in our Frankia 8.6m

How will they fine you if you stray into a zone, police stop, camera, or…?
Garry, many cities/ emmission zone areas now have ANPR cameras installed, eg, Rouen for one, so it makes sense to register for the Criti Air. I have resisted for years, but now find it a necessity for penalty free travel through France............on the routes we use. (y)
Summer time during the height of the hot weather, may see some folks either contravening city, or department emission regulations, due to not having registered for the appropriate Criti Air plakette 🤷‍♂️

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I know jock but how do they get our details to send the fine now…? I know I always post a little quip on the subject when it arises about crit-air stickers but I’ve yet to see evidence of someone being fined, I can only go on my experience and say that I have purposely driven through zones and over thousands of miles in France and the final evidence for me that no one can dispute is me at the front of my van asking a policeman about my lack of crit-air sticker on my windscreen… he was just not interested…

I know it’s only a fiver or so but it’s the principle that my vans ok polluting the country side for free but not a city but it is if I pay to pollute the city….

I will continue to be a rebel..😆 and this forum will be the first to know if I ever get nicked….😎

Mine are fixed in bottom corner of screen on left looking from the front of the vehicle from outside, which I believe is correct.
To avoid confusion the convention is to refer to left or right from the position of sitting in the driver's seat in the vehicle.

Agreed if LHD but as mine is RHD and I'm guessing the OP's is also RHD then it's Offside.
Not when one is driving on the righthand side of the road, as in all mainland Europe. Position of the driver controls is irrelevant.
