Silves

Beautiful sunny day here is Silves. Been out for a little run this morning, breakfast, showers and ready for a walk up to the castle.

Peter what was the name of the restaurant you recommended to us?

Our favorite was Casa Velha up near the castle.

Another vote for casa vela. ..3 course meal for €7.50 with free drinks and a liquor to finish, can't beat it.
Other meals area available, nice staff too.

Heres the leaflet, we picked ours up from the the algarve motorhome park in the laundry room. Went without it one day and got charged €22 for 2 and no liquor.
Still cheap to eat though.

Yes that's the one, really good value if you use the leaflet to get anything on the menu for that €7.50.

Sandra & Colin - weather here at Portimau good today (Saturday), but yesterday was not so good.

And the restaurant is the Casa Velha, as others have already said. Just say you want the menu camper before you sit down to eat. We did not have a leaflet but said it and one of the waiters said "yes" OK. Essentially they take their standard dish of the day menu and add a soup, pudding, wine and a small slug of port.

Thanks folks. It just so happens that a leaflet for this resturant was put under the wiper today. I'm was obviously meant to be.

:gracias:

Where was you lucky enough to be parked at the swimming pool, ;) we should be back there in about a week or so. :ROFLMAO: Bob.

Don't think that would be a big seller at all Jim. 99% of Funsters don't wild camp, and that same percentage prefer wine; have left the Funster tent by 11pm and are tucked up in bed with cocoa

But that's when the FUN starts

We are on the new official aire that isn't official yet!! But yes by the swimming pool.

It is free at the moment but once the council grant a licence to themselves I guess there will be a charge. No vans are parking over night on the actual car park at the moment.

Did you enjoy your meal?

Same as we stayed on. Grey waste but no water. Also there is a toilet dump. Look for the manhole with rope attached on corner of Conference Centre

Hi Peter - don't have coordinates but if you go to Carrapateira its a lefthand turn once you go through the tiny village - signposted for the beach. (y)
Cliff and Geraldine, thanks for this tip. Stayed there a couple of nights ago. Fabulous beach and views. Did you go up to the top of the road and get the views onto the beach from above as well?

Yes we walked for a couple of miles along the cliff top. Did you see the fishermens shacks? We are now at Ortiguera on the north coast of Spain. We went through Galicia - best tapas we've ever had - thoroughly recommended!

We didn't walk that far. We are now back at an Aire in Albefura and will start heading North to home.

At the moment we are limited in what we can do and how far we can walk. On Tuesday at Lagos I at last persuaded Angela to go to hospital to get her arm looked at from the cycling accident two weeks before. Two hours and a couple of X rays later they told her that it was probably broken and that she needed to go urgently to hospital in Portimao (where we had just come from) to get it looked at. Drove back and the upshot is that she now has a cast on the whole of the lower arm and has to keep it in a sling. Too uncomfortable to walk too far with it.

Mind you she said she would have gone there earlier if she had known how good looking the young doctor that treated her was! And the total cost was 19 Euros.

So sorry to hear about Angela's arm. I broke my scaphoid bone which didn't show up on an X-ray so I was typing with it broken for a month. When it was still really painful went for another X-ray and they then saw that it had been broken all the time. Because I had been using it the bones didn't knit together and I had to have it pinned, so hope Angela's cast does the trick.

Where are you now?

Where are you now?

We are at Albufera in the Aire by the sportsground, We have to decide this morning whether to move on slowly up the road to Castro Marim maybe or to stay here another day.

We are aiming to be back home in the next week or so, and want to maximise the warmth before we head home.

Glad she finally got her arm looked at, it could have turned really nasty!!
