Silverstone Motogp Start Time Change

And changed from motor sport to water sport.

If only they had chosen Donington !!

Can't open the link but they were talking about possible monday race day if it rains as predicted. It really was bad today with Tito Rabat breaking his tibia, fibia, femur and dislocating his knee.

Has Donington got the requisite facilities as yet? I recall they were supposed to host MotoGP a few years ago, deputising for the make believe ‘Circuit of Wales’, but then pulled out as they needed significant funding/investment to meet the minimum circuit prerequisites or similar?

If only it were as simple as that.

Well it should be.

Look at Silverstone, flat, boring, expensive and they've spent a fortune on it getting the F1 pits all wrong for the fans.

The Melbourne Loop is contrived but the Craner Curves are World Class.

Well, that’s Dorna told then. ;)

Looking more likely that there will be no Moto GP today. Rabat's injury yesterday has focused everyones minds.

Still waiting.

I think that apart from Craner Curves Donnington is a mickey mouse track. The riders seem to like Silverstone. I think Brands is a cracking circuit it's just the location that's a problem for the Brits but is ideal for the continental fans.

There will be a meeting at 1 o'clock and a decision made as to whether there will be a race today.
One thing has been made clear is that there will be no deferral until tomorrow. It's today or nothing.:(

Silverstone is flat and a bit rubbish for spectators. Donington is better. Brands difficult to get to.

I remember watching Ago and Hailwood race at Siverstone before they wrecked it with chicanes.

My lad is up in the stands there somewhere. He got there on his bike before the rain fortunately.
The riders are complaining about the new surface having so many bumps that are holding water causing unpredictable aquaplaning. Also means that you can't safely choose slicks or wets .
Nothing on their website and about the situation regarding racing ...
An Expensive Shambles really. .

Latest announcement is Moto GP1 at 3.00pm
Edit, now saying 2.00pm start if the track inspection is satisfactory. 16 laps.

We've retreated back to the van... It's pee'ing it down and the wind has picked up. Not convinced a start is a good idea.

Neither the weather, the weather forecast or the track were improving when we decided to bale out and return to the van about 20 mins ago. The conditions are pretty horrendous, the BMW M5’s were sliding and twitchy as a twitchy thing when checking out the track. Now back in the warm listening to Silverstone radio, Dorna and race control really need to make a bloody decision.

What sort of statement is that ...

What a shambles. ...

Now saying 50% chance of making the race between 3pm and 4pm...

What’s the refund policy out of interest?
No idea, but being a cynical barsteward, I suspect that and the commercial aspects are influencing matters. Presumably, if the race starts and then gets red flagged, no refunds will be due??

Thanks for the update, not heard from John today, maybe overdid the whisky last night, he's in a stand somewhere.

sounds about right.

Before we bravely ran away, we were in the stand at Club Corner. ;)
