Has any Funster visited Sibenik recently and could share any recommendations for campsites/aires? Thanks.

Sorry to be useless on the campsite front. Sibenik is very pretty - only ever sailed into it though - plenty of that sort of parking!

Hope you get some better responses and enjoy your time there.

PS If you get the chance check out Krka Falls that is worth a detour to.

Thanks we loved our visit to Sibenik and are just preparing to head to Dubrovnik having spent the last few days in Split. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Camping Stobrec about a 10 minute bus ride into the centre, it is an ACIS campsite. Very good on site restaurant. Highly recommend Split.

Been to Sibenik too and stayed in a hotel at the holiday resort outside, mixture of hotels and large campsite. Loved it. Also experienced sudden onset of thunderstorm one morning in the town as per the photos before we got soaked

lol. Also, recommend Cavtat which is south of Dubrovnik. Not sure if there is a campsite nearby. Would love to go back there.

Further to above, there is a regular bus to Cavtat from just across the road from Camping Kate. Cavtat is nice, but just enough there for a 1 day visit. Milini has better beaches and overly walks along the coast through pine forest.

Plitvice falls are far better

Dubrovnik just visited there on cruise ship, nice place , so is Split, so is Rovinj in fact Rovinj we thought was the best of the three, but I wouldn't go back to any I prefer culture and wild scenery of these countries rather tha high buildings. 22 days on a cruise ship was more than enough can't wait for motorhome which should arrived 2 weeks ago !!

Just to add , you can also get a regular boat ferry from below Camping Kate to either Cavtat or Dubrovnic. Agree , Plitvice lake are stunning and well worth an early morning visit to beat coach parties but Krka lakes are also lovely . We stayed at camperstop in Skradin and then got boat trip along river right to Krka falls.

We have just been to Sibenik yesterday. We wanted to see the Old town and Cathedral but could not find parking anywhere. Gave it a miss unfortunately and went on to Zadar which has very limited parking near the old town but a large free parking area about a mile from the old town. Currently in a lovely wild meadow site close to lovely small old town of Nin. Finding Croatia fascinating but parking charges for mohos very high and difficult to find.

We have been staying on campsites and using public transport but it can be a challenge getting parking anywhere. Hope that you enjoy Nin. We are now in Dubrovnik enjoying the fabulous weather before we head for Bosnia on Saturday.

If it’s this difficult now, I wouldn’t want to be here when the hordes arrive in summer. Would say to anyone though don’t miss Split, Trogir, Zadar and Nin old towns. All very special. Just woke up to a nightingale signing it’s heart out.

Dubrovnik was very busy at lunchtime yesterday I wouldn’t want to be here in July or August. I would add Dubrovnik to your list it’s just sensational. We are off shortly on a boat tour of some islands. Then on to Bosnia tomorrow. I’m hoping that that there will be fewer tourists there.

We visited Dubrovnik 50 years ago and it was busy then! You now know why we didn’t plan to go further south than Split as all these places are now infested with cruise ships. Hopefully Bosnia will be quieter. Have fun.

There was only 2 cruise ships in Dubrovnik 2 weeks ago the one we were on had 988 passengers on most were geriatrics and never got off 😂, on a Saga ship Saga stands for Sex and games abroad , I don't know who came up with that , mind you most were in bed by 9 !!

You really wonder what the point of taking a cruise is if you don’t even get off at the destinations. It must be an insatiable desire for unlimited food, line dancing if you’re up to it, and tombola. Spare me please!

We got off every stop, a cruise is a taster of destinations, every cruise ship and cruise is different, we do it rarely, some people just like to relax, read, go to informative lectures, shows, there's no need to eat unlimited amounts, I assume you haven't been on a cruise, you sound like my neighbour and she has no idea what a cruise is like, forgive me if I'm wrong

Went on one once with 3000 others out of Ft Lauderdale - never again. Motorhoming is a far better lifestyle.

We stayed in an apartment overlooking the bay in Dubrovnik about 18 years ago. The owner took us out for the day on his boat to the local islands. The tiny harbour was heaving with small vessels from cruise ships dropping off passengers from cruise ships. Our host told us that they were really not welcome and the cruise passengers did not spend any money and ate all their meals on the ships, therefore offering no real benefit to the local economy. But there you go, each to their own

We’ve just come back from a week in Croatia (not in the van). There are extensive municipal works underway in Cavtat which means that the road along the front is closed to traffic and the footpath along the front is gone!

Don't disagree, as I said all cruises are different, my son was helicopter training in Florida years ago and he booked us on a Carnival ship out of Port Canaveral, Gordy / glitzy ship full of their country folk and seemed to eating their selves into a early grave , worst cruise for us .

Hi,
It’s called Ninska Laguna and is about 1 km N of Nin. There are 2 camp sites, the first one with a new reception building, but there was nobody around when we drove in so we went to the next one about 100m further on. Reception is a bit shambolic but there is a Polish/Canadian who lives and works there who will look after you.

We visited Sibenik a few years ago - can't recall where we camped but don't recall any problems - if you have time make a detour and visit the Plitvice Lakes and Krka waterfalls - both spectacular :)
