Good question. What are hymer walls made out of? The old one was just screwed in to the wall inside a cupboard but that was just a light thing. This is a bit heavier.

Old ones the inner wall is ply, new models from 2016 the inner wall is aluminum. The first one with Aluminium sandwich walls was the Dynamic Line in 2016, followed by the updated Exsis in I think 2018, I think most of the range now has the alloy sandwich.

Well whatever I've screwed in to it seems to be holding. I just made fresh holes in the frame of the MPPT and used small screws to fix it.

if it was aluminium you would have had to drill a pilot hole.

Well the lights are back on and nothing has gone bang.... yet.

I have a new found respect for people who do this day in day out. It's fiddly, it's cramped and it always takes so much longer than first planned. My back is agony!

I'm not completely happy with some of my crimps but I had all different sizes of cables and all different size and types of terminal blocks so I had to do the best with what I had. Anyone attempting something like this just splash out on a pack of all the different type/size of crimp, ring terminal etc you can get so you have the right thing for the job to hand.

Just need to strap my batteries down and set up the victron app.

Couple questions regarding the app if possible...

1. My battery capacity is the sum of the 2 90ah batteries so 180ah, is that right?

2. But not for the voltage, I will be setting that as 12 volt on the app?

3. Why is it showing an aux input from starter battery?

4. What should I set my alarms at for high and low voltage? What is low SOC alarm?

Battery capacity set to 180 ah less 2.5% each year of battery age, reset mine annually.

You set the battery charged voltage start with 14.1v

Cant help with aux I only have a BMV700

High alarm 14.7v, Low 11.5v.

Discharge floor. 50% if standard flooded cells.

Perkert exponent 1.25

That should do you for starters.

Why is it showing an aux input from starter battery?

Not sure what you mean, maybe this will help. If you had a 24V system, it usually is two 12V batteries in series. It is useful to monitor the midpoint voltage, to see that both batteries are OK. In a 12V system like yours it's not necessary - both batteries are at the same voltage because they are linked.

MH owners find it useful to use this voltage monitoring input to monitor the starter battery instead. Because it's not specifically designed for this, the app entry will call it something like Aux Input.

How much of a discharge would you expect to see with van unhooked and nothing on for 5 days?

I'm sure my batteries were sitting about 93% when I left the van on Wednesday and 86% when I came back today. Nothing was left on during my time away. Surely that's not right?

A quick calculation: 93 - 86 = 7% of 180Ah = 12.6Ah over 5 days. That's12.6/5 = 2.52 Ah per day. So that's 2.52/24 = 0.105 Ah per hour.
0.105 Ah per hour is an average of 105mA continuous current drain.

Sadly, that's not unexpected for a motorhome, which often has several background items powered even when the hab electrics switch is off. It's one of the reasons solar panels are installed.

I did have 1 solar panel set up but I don't know how well it works plus the weather has been crap.

Thought the drain was a bit on the high side but I guess I'm happier knowing it's legitimate enough.
