Show us your Poppies

As well as the normal red, which Liz has made several hundred, she is also producing a few purple that are in memory of all the animals.
Quite a few people have asked for purple this year on our two Supermarket stands in Hessle. View attachment 264949

My dogs each have a purple poppy on their collars.

Just thought I'd add a couple of photos to my previous post. First photo is Church of St Peter and St Paul Great Bowden Mkt Harborough like many other posts here

a community effort. The other 2 show poppies by Janet the second being a mix of red and purple to signify the men dying alongside their horses. We wrapped them around a tree outside our apartment. The sad thing is that we live on a new development of 200+ houses and this appears to be the only sign of rembrance.

Has anyone passed through Thirsk?
The street bollards in the market Square have been given a poppy "willy warmer" each. A good effort, as was Teeside, but an overall view was needed.
Also lots of billages have made the effort, Earby in Lancashire seems to have a poppy on every lampost.

Our horse. it took Martin and I nearly 3 hours to put over 600 poppies in place this morning. We had people in cars turn round and park to come and watch and take photos. Lots of people made nice comments which made it all worthwhile. I have sent the photos to the BBC, ITV, local and national press.

Our tiny village church (in a tiny village) has a lovely display of knitted poppies and two of these silhouettes which were made by a 95yr old villager from the back panel of our old wardrobe.

Been at a village soup lunch today and have been asking people how the Union Flag should be flown on Remembrance Day. Should it be full mast or half mast? After much discussion nobody really knew.
Kate has just found the answer in the fount of all knowledge-the internet.
Flag should be flown at full mast, it is remembrance not a funeral.

I have to say that some of the displays shown in this thread are just superb. Well done to all concerned. :clap2:

Richard.

I just don't understand posts like this!

Probably because JJ lives in Portugal.
I found it difficult to find a poppy when I lived in France-- you had to know who had the stock and collection tin. In Cyprus it was easy as we had the CESSAC cafe and shop open to all.

Sorry I have a tear in my eye and a shiver down my spine looking at all your picture's, we should never forget the sorrow on both side's.

I'll try to explain...

I don't have a poppy so I cannot, as the thread asks us to, show one.

I can't think of any other way of putting it in order to make it easier to understand. :(

JJ
I’ll send you some seeds for next year so you can join in.
