Pleased you had some luck but after my experiences I would never use any SIM that uses the Three network for roaming, tried several always been a PIA.

I have but I'm 'talking' to the OP, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that Lorger and the OP have different contracts depending on when they took them out. Having had an ID sim and read the ID info I can see nowhere that it says you will be able to use all of your allowance abroad. The below is where it explains your allowance - enter the monthly payment and it will tell you how much you can use in the EU.

It is confusing I admit and their fair usage policy worried me a lot before coming away. However I think if you were roaming permanently and not using their network at home they would invoke the fair use policy. So far I have not been capped at their noted rates, having used well over my allowance and he stressed when I upped it that it would be fine. As long as you use them back in the UK it is fine for short term roaming to use the full allowance. Unlike my next door neighbour who travelled to Madeira at the same time and was told it was £2.50 per day to be able to use his phone and data. They told him it was europes fault, that I think, is utter bullshit, it was Europe that put a stop to those daily charges years ago! Sheer profiteering by BT once again!

Thanks for sharing that . I was going to change to Lebara but I’m thinking of this now - good service means a lot these days

They have been very good over the years, even allowing me to change contract without penelty and within contract term for less money and more data. Highly recommended.

What I have been doing for a few months is staying on their network and not using my home network, that way I’m building up more use in Scotland. Hopefully that will let me use my whole allowance when abroad.

Yes I did that for about a month before I came away but only managed to use 25gb... Am well over 114gb so far!

I got a bit of a shock yesterday when I phoned someone from Isle of Man, apparently that’s a foreign country. Nearly used up my £5 buffer.
