Should we try renting ?

You'll need deep pocket in those counties if you want room to park a motorhome & car, van - I'd be looking further east
Many areas of Derbyshire away from the Peak District are reasonable,,,compared to other areas.

Why should I be expected to limit increases in rent from my buy to let which is effectively my pension to 3% when inflation is headed for 10% plus and benefits and wages are likely to increase by a fair bit more?. If you said average wage rises or inflation fine.
Because the current rules limit increases for current tenants. It is wrong to allow "evictions"to allow rent increases for new tenants and a reason for current inflation.
Along with any type of unearned income ,whether private or commercial, should be banned.

I am thinking Cheshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire.

Forget Cheshire! Way to pricey! Head for the border with Wales up to 10Km in much cheaper and more for your money (y)

So do you think people getting workplace pensions should have them banned or limited to 3% increase.

I agree this is very bad practice and should be enforced if it is indeed illegal however if the reason for it is that the landlord is out of pocket, eg the rent includes all service charges, then there needs to be some leeway to allow for this.

Assuming you mean that earned income is where you go out to work, work from home etc, ie actually have to spend some time on it, is okay, then what about savings/investment interest, pension (private or state)? Do you get a pension?
