Shortage of LPG and Calor Gas

Unfortunately, none of the apps are accurate enough around here (South Lincs, Norfolk..). Morissons have now re-directed all their forecourt phones to a central number due to the number of calls they were receiving asking if they had LPG or not. The central number aren't able to tell you if a garage has LPG or not so the only way to find out is to drive there . Speaking to our local independent garage they are seeing improvements in the delivery of LPG so fingers crossed..
I used https://www.mylpg.eu/ and found LPG at all the local Morrisons. King’s Lynn would have been a few pence cheaper per litre but due to the hour and a half wait at Sutton Bridge roadworks, I went to Wisbech. 79.9/lt. (Similar price at Pinchbeck). Only problem I had was that as it was my 1st time filling a ‘safefill’, I was having trouble locking the fitting on. (Entirely my fault), when I asked for help, I was told they had no one trained to show me how! Fortunately, the driver behind knew exactly and showed me how! ✅👍

Calor are also stopping there stockists allowing motorhomes being filled with lpg
So it will get even harder going forward
No idea where that came from.
Calor depot about 12 miles from me is def allowing motorhomes to fill

mylpg.eu is far too slow being updated so doesn’t keep track of who has run out and who has been restocked. filllpg.co.uk is generally more up to date because the taxi drivers use it.
Mylpg.eu works well in mainland Europe but not much good in the UK too few UK users.

Yes, quicker to load but not as up to date.

What web site would that be then?

If the OP is referring to LPG then there are a couple of apps. mylpg.eu is probably the best. There is also AutogasApp UK.

Also I find the Facebook group LPG Auto supply UK very useful in finding garages with LPG.

Regarding the OP - I am not sure where you have been for the last year if you have only just noticed a difficulty in finding gas.
Its vital that those of us that use these apps phone or email whatever amendments closures to the app owner whenever we find one.

I’m finding some I’ve not stocked LPG for years and some never have so just keep on the ball with it please

I was reading yesterday that UK is currently awash with lpg, they don't know what to do with the stuff. So much so that the electricity generators are stepping up and we're exporting as much electric as we can.
But is it reflected in pump prices ? No, but it should be freely available

Yes I had a problem getting a 6 kg gas bottle (my reserve) but filled ok from the pump. My local garage have had 6 kg bottles all the way through last years supply problems but have not had any for over 6 weeks!
walked into my local yesterday and got a 6kg and 13kg no problem.

That is LNG not LPG - we have limited storage and the mild weather has led to lower consumption.

Good stuff. Also at sang yong garage and crooklands lorry garage in m6.
I've not used the one at Ullswater Road Garage, but I'm led to believe access is a bit tight to the lpg pump ?

It's not too bad Graeme, I've used it a couple of times in our 7.4m MH but definitely need someone to see you back!

The £5 surcharge on purchases under £10 puts me off and you also have to ask them at the reception to reset the pump before use. The reception is on the left as you drive between the garage and The Rooster.

Access used to be worse whe the courier company was in the corner as there was always 'abandoned van's near the pumps.

Topped up with 20 litres of LPG at Leigh Delamere Eastbound Services today. Has been showing on Filllpg as available since 15/05/22 whereas the less than helpful MyLPG.EU hasn’t been updated since 07/03/22 and is still showing not available.

I have tried updating MyLPG.EU before and they took no notice of the updated information I submitted so I am not going to bother this time. I will just use the more reliable Filllpg.

I have always used Filllpg... but recently I have started to also use Autogas App in conjunction with Filllpg.. between the 2 you get a better, truer picture..

Has anyone else noticed it's getting more and more difficult to get gas .
Are we going to be left without a way to boil a kettle and cook our food ?
This seems to be a recurring theme and one that is answered by many funsters offering practical advice. For those of us who are in Europe it is not an issue, plenty of LPG and Diesel, and both seem to be cheaper than the UK. Is it that petrol retailers are profiting unfairly compared with their European counterparts? It seems that if Moho owners choose to remain in the Uk, they suffer a double whammy, as camper site owners seem to milk them for as much as they can. I have paid as little as 8€ and at most €13.5 in France, Portugal and Spain. That’s without EHU but includes all other services including water. I’m currently back in France on my way to Italy. My present stopover, is in the picturesque fortified coastal town of Aigues Mortes. It’s a large gravel and grass area provided by the town at no cost so that they attract visitors, who presumably will spend money in the town and support the local economy. There are no services but I’m self sufficient, so have no worries.🙂👍

App’s aren’t real people…..happier to take information from real people on here.

Maybe not as widespread as an App, but pretty much accurate in real time. 🤷‍♂️

Flogas are delivering to their account holders without any issues.

Some time ago I expressed concerns re the LPG
Situation , I stated that after the Morrisons buy out by one of those asset stripping groups I had read that LPG would be removed from forecourts as it was too expensive to maintain the pumps has there been a rethink I doubt it. My local ESSO garage in Grantham has just resumed supplies as have the BP station at Holdingham roundabout.
I run a car on LPG but use calor cylinders for our van which were for a time as had to find as rocking horse poo but things seem to be getting better.

Another good reason for us to visit France every few years just to fill up!

It came straight from the horse’s mouth. So to speak.
I did say going forward this is what they are looking at.
I personally hope not as only had gaslow 2 years so probably not had the full benefits yet.

When in some places in Europe I have been challenged
I just say it is for the onboard generator.. No issue !
Nowt stopping folk doing the same should it become needed

It's not so much the shortage of LPG that concerns me but the willingness to sell it. My local BP, which I believe is BP owned/operated dropped it a few years ago, and now this, which includes my current local supplier.

I think you need to press the update button in the red banner, it is there for a reason.

OK I’ll put on the pointy hat and sit in the corner. Bit unsure why the app would load out of date data in the first place but I was certainly missing the obvious.

My local Morrisons sold out of LPG in about one hour, by the time I got there , they'd sold out . There put me on a text list now, fingers crossed

Jeffersons of Shoreham on Sea Sussex had plenty of 6kg this week.
