Hi All

I am consideroing selling my Burstner motorhome and TOAD.

So far I have had a couple of offers for the motorhome in the £47,000-£48,000 for a straight sale to a trader, I am guessing I could get a little more selling privately BUT am really nervous about such an expansive transaction.

Any thoughts suggestions or cautions?

Best of luck. Just read your advert, if it was me I would be inclined to get it MOT’d and serviced If they are due in a couple of weeks. Advert would be a lot more tempting if you said it’s got 12 months MOT and just been serviced. Just my thoughts. Best of luck.
Hi

from where I am currently living, getting the MOT and service done is quite difficult, but I will have to do so if no interest, happy to “negotiate“ if anyone shows interest. 😃👍

We brought our toad from a funster who had put it in the classifieds. I regularly check to see what’s for sale and would happily purchase our next MH on here.
Personally I wouldn’t transfer the monies until collection as with our last MH purchase. If your bank is pre-warned all should be good 👍

Sure is.... some folk are more "money oriented" than others....

I had to work 40hrs a week for five months to earn that… that’s hassle, having a few people round to look at my van for maybe a couple of weeks would be pleasure, but if it’s a good van and a good price it’ll go to the first buyer. I know the two that I advertised on here did and there still talking to me on here years later…😂😎

Most current accounts have a maximum daily limit on what can be transferred.
But the buyer can speak to their bank and inform them of the planned transaction and amount. They will then lift the limit for the day.
Do a transaction for 1 pound initially, when you have this you can advise the buyer and transfer the balance.
They can do it whilst sat at your home having agreed the deal.
I am not sure that is 100% true, as in suspicion of money laundering etc. Although I seem to remember that it is possible to insure against that remote possibility. Anyone know.

When I was buying my MH I offered a Banker's Draft, which the policeman Seller refused on the grounds that there were too many bent ones around. In the end we agreed on Cash, went to a branch of my bank in his town, where I had arranged to draw the cash and which was close to his bank, took the cash, he signed the V5c transfer and went across to his bank to deposit it.

the biggest issue is one of payment - many bank a/c have a daily ceiling of something like £25k - so there would need to be some discussion with your bank about how to pay for it in one transaction - as a seller, i wouldn't let a van go untill i had all the money, and as a buyer, i would want hand handover immediately on transfer and receipt of monies.
I'd expect neither party would be happy taking / making half a payment and releasing the vehicle or coming back tomorrow to collect it - at least with an established dealer there is a greater degree of security
Why not ?

I've done that 3 times now.

It can't be reversed once it's landed in your account

We let our bank know of any big transactions and they change the limit for 24 hours.

Do it with CHAPS - we bought ours privately end of last year. I rang the bank to set it up in the morning knowing they send a text to confirm later in the day. I didn’t send the confirmation until I’d seen the van and was happy it was ok. Whilst the previous owner kindly did a very detailed handover, the money landed in his account and then we did the V5 transfer together online. Dead easy but does rely on you knowing how your bank process works.

I bought our van via Nationwide app. Deposit paid was only £100 but established seller and buyer details to the bank. On handover day, we just paid via the app in multiples of £10.000. Only took 10 minutes and cleared into sellers account immediately.

Sale or return via a dealer such as Simon-Alan Kerr agree a price the dealer gets thier margin and the customer who buys gets a warranty just make sure if you want the best price make sure the tyres battery Hab check etc is done the more you do the less the dealer has to do.

Check with you bank first , different rules seem to apply
Sold my wifes care recently with The Motorway Way, can't recommend it highley enough, got a few £K more than WeBuyAnyCar.
Its basically an auction site for the trade , dealer transferred the money no issues & collected on the day, no cost to me.
Might be worth a call
We have a Burstner ( we live in hope ) coming in the summer, had a reasonable offer from the dealer last Sept but will still go to the market nearer the time.
Good luck
