V8 4.5 Litre petrol..auto gear box..All electric..no gas..Will get some more pictures when he brings it out of the garage.
Looks great, but just wondering if the half shafts will take all that torque, i've broken half shafts a couple of times in a Land-rover, not the ambulance type though.

Auto is a curious choice for off road
My Delica which was automatic was very competent off road, it had low range and center diff lock, and axle air lockers were available as an aftermarket extra if required.
Here's a random pick from YouTube.

Forward control 😱 they are rare enough before you mod them
V8 petrol probably chosen for ease of fuel availability in Morocco maybe 🤷‍♂️
I'm nearly finished on a cummins conversion in a disco with the bosses son, cant stand the things myself but dont mind modding stuff 👍

Mmm it looks like a LR 101FC ambulance which would normally sport a 3.5 V8 with 4 speed box, 2 speed transfer and center diff lock.....essentially the drive from the Range Rover of the day (1970's). The civi owners club is called '6 stud' as its the only LR produced that featured a six stud wheel mount.........used to be a member myself in the dim and distant past.....! A nice machine, the best conversion being........

There is one similar to that done out in Red Bull logo. It is used as a mobile disco. I have also seen one rotting away in a garden in leafy Didsbury. Not the same but similar shape.

Have a look at the YouTube channel of True Blue Travellers and their fantastic conversions, they've done a Sainsburys van, Land Rover and currently a six wheel drive ex military fire engine. Some really clever stuff and a lovely young couple.

Think practically everything on chassis has been upgraded and changed..He built fuel injection system from scratch and all engine management is controlled from a touch screen in the cab..BUSBY..

I have but its not a proper off roader. Each to their own of course but I've always found auto pretty hopeless on loose surfaces
I’ve never had an issue including steep shale climbs up and down . The variation of control in proper auto 4x4 copes with just about everything

From what I remember they were uncomfortable to drive if you had legs longer than dwarf size. There is very little tin in front of you to call a crumple zone.
No doubt a lovely conversion but you have to have some serious travel plans to justify the work done.

This vid is of an interesting conversion as it has had two trail wheels fitted to accommodate and extension to the hab area.
Sadly the wheels look as I say like trailing wheels when the 101FC in a lot of variant's was provided with a rear extension to the prop shaft which originally drove a large capacity trailer and or the parts of the Rapier AA system (for which the machine was really first intended).

I had a Delica Super Exceed (lwb) and drive to South of France a few times with the kids - lovely Captain's chairs in rear that we faced rearward and a drip down TV and video player in the roof! Bit thirsty but loved it .
My good mate's bride to be always dreamed of driving the farm tracks from her house to the church that is just visible from her bedroom window....... I volunteered and became a wedding car for the day as the 4WD was excellent.Screenshot_20240729-192355.png

I did Italy and back in mine, one of my sisters lives in the Austrian alps so we stayed with her for a few days on the way, we went up some of the Mountain tracks, mine was Diesel and did about 24 mpg. The best car I ever owned, I also did some off road trips with the owners club, they are very competent.

I can’t remember a six wheel version of the 101 but the powered trailer was dropped because the trailer was known to push the 101 over when cornering off road.

Just how cool does that look, but wouldn't want to pay the petrol bills.....
He reckons after tweaking it he scrapes 15 mpg..Too thirsty for me
