You MUST start at Camping Aquaduct to marvel the ability of water from miles away along small channels.as it approaches Sagovia the channels get larger then..................It is one of the most magnificient feats of engineering in the world..... to deliver water to the castle and cathedral

I’ve not been to Segovia, yet, but it’s on my list as well as Cordoba which I believe is similar.

I do think Salamanca and Burgos are high up there.

Santillana del Mer is an unbelievably beautiful old town, with prehistoric cave art close by, as is Santiago de Compostela.

We also enjoyed Cadiz during Santa Semana and Cartagena with its very historic background. Granada was unbelievable to visit.

I also want to visit Albarracin to see the old town.

From our travels there are lots and lots of beautiful places to visit in Spain all with their own impressive aspects.

I recently returned home from my first tour of Spain (other than the Costas).
Toledo isn't too far from Segovia. Worth a look with a good campsite just outside of the city.
There's also a cute little town called Potes just a 2 hr drive from Bilbao/Santander. You park for free for a night in the middle of the town.
Jaca and Huesca in the North of Spain are nice too.

Don’t neglect the Peublos Blancos (white villages) N and W of Seville. Along the A4 to Cordoba there is Carmona and Elijah. Both well worth a visit.

The big fiestas make a great focus. The Fallas festival, in March, in Valencia is a week of pyrotechnic fun. Incredible street sculptures and all in a fantastic city. Very highly recommended.
Also the Feria in Seville is a one off. Worth it just to see tens of thousands of local ladies in full costume. Spectacular !

Have a look at Tarragona 🙂
Most of you know about its wonderful beaches, the award-winning best campsites in Europe, the car (Seat Tarraco)...
...but this city was also an important Roman city and today it is full of Roman ruins.
There was a time when Tarraco was the capital of a huge province of the Roman empire.
We also have a Roman aqueduct (ok, not as outstanding as the one in Segovia), a theatre, city walls... and a Gothic cathedral (non roman stuff also😉).

Nice one. I can't play guitar, but I just love the look/engineering of them. Look after it!!

Peavy can play the guitar. I'm sure he'd love to play that one.

You're absolutely right Judith, I would love to. I bet Martin jumar would love that too (y)
Peavy I don't think you are aware of my playing abilities 😒
But you...do you finger pick...having heard your Spotify additions with great appreciation... I'm not sure picking is your number one playing style...is it?

There are lots, Cuenca, Avila, Merida, Morela are just the first few that come to mind.

Albaraccin has been on our list for years, especially now theres an aire, but we only seem to be close in the winter.

We stopped in the parador at Carmona on a short winter break. Old moorish fortress with amazing views.

We love Segovia and divert there if we are in the area. Had the best G&T ever in the main square, and met Funsters bob&janie at the Alcazar

Most of what I play is with a pick. I do fingerstyle for some classical guitar stuff I play and some bass guitar parts also.
(Sorry to the OP for the thread deviation 😅 )

If you like cities then our recent trip from Santander to Cadiz fits the bill.
We started at Santillana, then Palencia, Valladolid, Salamanca, Caceres, Merida, Seville, then Puerto de Santa Maria for Cadiz (via ferry).

All camperstops except Santa Maria, so all within walking distance of the centre except the Salamanca aire (which has a bus stop nearby).
We stopped on the campsite at Santa Maria as we needed a washing machine and a rest.

The only aire we didn't stay the night was at Caceres where there is a homeless shelter next door and lots of people sat around, so we moved to a lovely aire about 15 minutes south.

Good array of City visits....regarding the mention of the homeless centre...they would be sat around... after all they are homeless..but it doesn't make them theives, rapists etc...they are just less fortunate that you and me..🙁

No, I nearly didn't mention about the homeless but we just felt a little uncomfortable with them sat watching us go out and felt that we wouldn't have got a comfortable night's sleep.
Like lots of people we work on the theory that if in doubt go elsewhere.

Was that the Valhondo one adjacent to the bus depot to which you refer? I wasn't aware of any significant activity when I was there. Quite the reverse.

From the French border, we did Burgos, Salamanca, Valladolid, past Avila to Toledo, Cordoba, Seville, Jerez, Puerto de SM for Cadiz, Ronda and Granada, then back up the East Coast via Bolnuevo; and you must see the Templar Castle at Peniscola!
We want to go back for Madrid and Segovia.
