Have seen a couple of videos of seesaw type trailers for small cars, ie they pivot so the back end allows you to drive straight on and then as the cars weight moves forwards the whole thing pivots and levels out.

Anyone used one or can share any experiences ?

I see that braking is kinda important at the loading stage šŸ˜‚

Just a tad..
I had one I used for one of my track cars. The theory is good and it did work to a point, but I ended up locking the tilting mechanism and using it conventionally.

Are those extended ramps that stick out beyond the trailer and look like they could easily penetrate anything that comes into contact with them, including knees or shins, legal?

Genuine question!

Any particular reason you gave up on it ?

Yes. The optimum position for the car for weight balance (towing performance) was too far back from the pivot point. This meant unnecessary adjustment after loading as I couldnā€™t use wheels stops. It was just faff so I used a long set of ramps I had which gave just enough clearance for the very low car..

I had a Bockman tiltbed ,found it very useful , but that was 14ft bed 3500kg and allowed a wide envelope of positioning for best towing performance and twin axle , The small single axle ones by their short design might be a bit problematic for best positioning regarding noseweight and balance .
