Second week of home quarantine

The local council help hubs are still in place and they will be able to either organise a home delivery or a local volunteer to shop for you :)

How do you book Christmas deliveries? Where we are you can only book a couple of weeks ahead
I had a recent message from Tesco about x mass deliveries? Something to do with being able to book them from early in December?. Never paid much attention to it.

Similar here, you can't book Waitrose Christmas slots here yet.

Were you not aware of the possible difficulties of quarantine before you went. You could have stayed in the UK like most of us have. We would all love to get abroad but we decided to stay put for the common good.
What difficulties? If you need food & have no one you can go out. That's why it is allnonsense.
I have just booked my Waitrose Christmas delivery for December. The slots are going fast. ;) :giggle:
& that is why the vulnerable can't get deliveries because the perfectly able are too lazy to shop themselves & book all the slots months in advance. No different to stock piling supplies.
Don't you know anybody?
We'd be in a worse boat than they are as I'd also have to walk the dog & no we wouldn't have anyone if the nonsensical rules are still in place when we arrive next year.

Most local shops around here have been helping people out when needed, i full time so if I'm out and about I may not have anyone to help out. Back in March I was (fortunately) on my pitch in a mates yard when I became sickly, I rang the local shop explained that I wasn't sharp and didn't think I should go out they sorted what I wanted and one of the young girls from the shop delivered it. They weren't bothered about taking payment there and then the owner said pay me when you are feeling better, if you need anything else just shout. Proving there's always more than one way to skin a cat.

You make a lot of assumptions in your post gus without checking a single fact.

Like what ?
Like this for starters gus, What sort of unsubstantiated nonsense is this. Come on give us your facts...

I can get deliveries, and book a Christmas slot because I've been paying a monthly premium to do just that for 5 years. I've been supporting the business model all that time.
I also run the village "Good Neighbours " scheme for 3 years and we've been doing deliveries from the village shops to those who cant get out since March.
I've been amazed to do drop offs to some elderly folk and find their actual neighbours just returning from their own shopping trip.
What goes around comes around...

there's far too many perfectly able to shop who use deliveries instead. many state that it "saves them time" allowing them to do other things. All the ones I know saying that are sat on there bfa's "multitasking". It's laziness . Actually go shopping when you have just eaten & you buy far less. + the exercise is good for you. Oh & walk to & from far better.
If the able all did the above those isolating wouldn't have to worry about getting slots.

Not possible , I book green slots ( for the vulnerable/shielding ) with Sainsbury’s for us and can only book a week ahead and we book delivery slots with Morrison’s for our son with a learning difficulty and again can only book up to a week ahead.
Adequate delivery slots are available.

& another thing all these "home deliveries " do is **** it up for those actually shopping for themselves when they have to fight for whats on the shelves with dozens of staff loading trollies for the idlers

And then the delivery trucks block the road I live in, being a 1910 house, the road isn't very wide and cars park both sides, amazing the number of people that use it though.

Transition time for me, I don't know if I'm coming or going.

I find that quite an offensive post.
I have been having 3 weekly deliveries from Tesco mainly because I am s**t scared of catching Covid from one of the morons who disregard social distancing and/or the wearing of face masks.
I live alone with no family close by to help if I am taken ill.
And apparently I am in the vulnerable category although I enjoy good health at the moment.

In the last lock down we couldn't get any deliveries locally. So I assume things are no better, and like someone said, you're taking up slots that someone really vulnerable could use. Plus my wife refuses to order something she can't see and touch, even non-food things. So we've got this far without having deliveries. To each his/her own. I think we'll be OK till the end of the week, anyway.

It’s only 2 weeks time to catchup on all those must do jobs when I’ve got time type of thing.

:wasntme:

My daughter is just recovering from Covid, girl she works with sister had it and her mum visited then brought it into the house and infected everybody including the next door neighbour who is now in a coma😡😡
Girl has been warned about her attitude to Covid by the manager where my daughter works but still came to work knowing her mum was positive!!

We have been shopping for her a few times and just left it on the doorstep as she had been unable to get any delivery slots☹️
