Scotland opening tomorrow - it's going to be a good day

Us too! I'll be heading west from Fife in the car shortly, but to the hospital for the Cardiology Clinic to see whether I really am all heart, or whether it's just propaganda ... Just hope the Consultant has a proper gander this afternoon (y)

Steve
Hope it went well for you. The roads were busy

Now at Kirroughtree Visitor Centre car park 4 vans in so far nice and quiet. For info,

Mobile coverage is poor O2 one to two bars, 3 and Vodafone no coverage, there is free Wi-fi at the centre also two outside freshwater taps but no chemical toilet disposal. TV reception is good. £5 per night to stay free if a Blue Badge holder.

3 stents fitted in 2 hits after the first 2 didn't solve the problem and all was wonderful again, except that the 2nd round of stent fitting led to a problem stopping the bleeding from my left wrist, so I ruined several hospital pillows as the poor female surgeon was using all her 50kg weight to close the wound site! Brilliant healthcare, and lovely people!

Steve
Cardiologist declares me disgustingly healthy 'but you need to exercise more and lose more weight' ... 'Don't need to see you again unless you have more chest pains ... and BTW, your tablets are permanent to keep your stents open. Don't forget!' So that's me telt then [again]

One tip.....

We chose one of the pitches marked in red below. There was a constant humming throughout the night from the buildings behind. I think it was to do with the swimming pool filtration/ heating?

Don't forget to try the deep fried Mars Bar at the chippy :frowny:

Hi namwaldog Barry,

Thanks for the tip. I've stayed here before and the noise you're hearing was from the leisure centre. I'm away from that just now.

I also used to live in Stonehaven and I've tried the deep fried Mars bar, but I can't say I'm a fan. The chipper (The Bay) is one of the best in the north east of Scotland. I shall be enjoying that tomorrow evening.

Cheers,

Arron.

Great to know Castle corner is open (y) Your lucky to get online, reception is usually crap there. What network are you using?

Try the green frog next to Moffat campsite might get in there if lucky

Please all wild campers coming to Scotland no matter what your accommodation may be , please don't leave any rubbish behind and don't empty your toilet cassettes at the side of the road , respect our countryside ,and do use local shops they need the trade after such a hard year last year, enjoy our country.

Clatteringshaws Loch after a heavy hail then rain shower as the weather brightened up this afternoon, one of the Forestry and Land Scotland Stay the Night sites. Good 3 and O2 coverage and TV. Chemical toilet disposal (free) toilets while centre open and freshwater tap on outside of toilet block. Car park is sloping so ramps needed.

That’s just a few miles from us. We had some nice gentle rain but no hail.

Our 2nd jags on Thursday, but me at 11:02 and Elaine at 15:00! I've got cardiology clinic tomorrow and I have to get new Fridge Control Panel fitted asap, and then we can get away somewhere; anywhere!

Steve & Elaine
As you're going on the same day, if you both go for the 11:02 appointment the chances are Elaine will be able to get hers then too rather than having to return later, this is because they will already have an allocation that day to include you both so it won't make any difference. Ours are on consecutive days but we can't do it as they can only do those who they have 'guaranteed' to have vacs for on each day as they only know if they have any left at the end from 'no shows'.

Mel,
We tried that as soon as we got the letter, but all timeslots were full! The staff member we spoke to could only suggest that we keep phoning in the hope that there is a cancellation, but so far, the jag attendance is seemingly fully taken!

In Fort William today, not in the van though. Not many motorhomes about, far less than normal for this time of year. The car park at the Glenfinnan Visitor Centre has been expanded.

No, I'm not talking about actually rearranging the later appointment, just both turn up at the earlier time and ask, they are more than likely to agree to do you both then.

Not the way Fife NHS works, Mel! 'No appointments available, you'll have to stick with arranged times ...' even this morning, and I arrived to be at the back of a long queue. However, as I was leaving the building, the queue had disappeared and I mentioned that Elaine was in the car; 'Send her up then ... !'

It appears that the appointments have been outsourced and the new administrators are working through each Medical Practice and allocating appointments by date of birth ... The first jags were done on the more logical basis of same household age groups, much more logical!

Just need to try to revive the SatNav now and we can clear off somewhere. Dealer thinks he might be able to rescue the SD Card and get it to behave so off to the Post Office shortly! Fingers crossed, because Pioneer have merely replied that the cost of a new SD Card is almost the same as a complete new system [that's just about verbatim!]

Steve & Elaine, freshly pricked ...
