Scooter cvt, changing gearing

Having carried out the alteration what has happened to your insurance premium? Or have you not notified them?

The modification is to improve low down pulling power and not for speed, so in effect making it safer on hills, ( it in no way compromises the scooter safety features)
If me and the wife had lost a stone in weight each that also would have improved its hill climbing ability,
So in answer to your question no I haven’t or any intention to do so,

Changing weights is always a compromise. What you gain in acceleration you lose in speed. You also use more fuel. Changing variators is an art as well. Each manufacturer does it slightly differently. I've had more than a few autos over the years from 50cc up to 500cc. Got good results with malossi, polini and jcosta variators. All performed better than standard. Even when Changing weights.

Have a word with a specialist like pm tuning.

Our's was struggling to start last night, the starter motor kept disengaging too soon for the engine to fire up. It went eventually. So had it to bits today to check the inertia widget, everything seemed OK, put a spot of oil on it, checked the battery voltage (12.7) put it all back together... And same problem

Checked the battery voltage with ignition on (which includes headlight) 10v and dropping ordered new battery. Coming from an ebay seller in Granada €35

That’s fine by me but, having had experience of an insurance company trying everything they could to avoid paying, I would be wary of making any alteration to the original designed performance without notifying them in future.

You can remove the inertial bendix from the shaft and give it a good clean, brake cleaner or parrafin would be ideal, they can get clogged up with belt and clutch dust, then extend the Bendix and lightly lubricate,
Mine didn’t always fully engaged sometimes on first start up but does now,
Worth doing before putting back the cover, but your battery is toast by the sound of it,

Feedback since weights changed.
Top speed is slightly reduced, but still cruises happily at 50/55 mph, as indicated by speedo when no passenger.
The real benefit is increased acceleration and ability on hills. Ok its marginal but noticable.
Climbing the 17% hill near Abbotsbury, Chesil Beach, 2 up saw minimum speed of 20/25 mph.
For us its been worthwhile.
