I calculate you would need to leave on 23/10/2022

I wonder how the authorities cope with people sailing out of EU waters and sailing back in, in terms of deducting the days out. It doesn't matter whether it is cruise ships or private yachts.

Also how do they cope with vessels which cross the time zones within the EU between CET and Portugal, Canaries and Azores?

Answers on several postcards.

I’m no expert on this at all, but believe right now it’s good, old fashioned passport stamps …until they introduce the imminent computer system that will track your passport number

A passport stamp when a person on a vessel leaves EU territorial waters?

Who has the authority to stamp?

Just a word of caution, we travelled to Spain on Brittany Ferries to Bilbao last year and returned via the tunnel... Passport control at the tunnel point blank refused to stamp our exit, insisting that we should have had it stamped at the Spanish border first or alternatively leave via Bilbao, but said we could still board the train.. Had we not created a scene and got it (reluctantly) stamped, I dread to think what would happen when we present ourselves to Folkestone in a few weeks time.. There have been few horror stories of stamps appearing to show an overstay. Hopefully teething troubles, but something to be wary of.

What was their logic suggesting that driving from Spain to the tunnel you should have had it stamped at the Spanish border, because it is the date leaving Schengen which is relevant?

Exactly.. There was no logic.

As far as we could see there was no customs border between Spain and France, but we had driven through that a few hours beforehand, so had first hand knowledge / experience. I am guessing (hoping) that the local Sangatte border control chap was a bit flummoxed with differing entry and exit points, so was making it up as he went along... But the implications for us, for his naivety, could have been quite far reaching. It was 01.00 in the morning so he may have had enough and wasn't thinking straight...
