It's suddenly got really, really windy here and, to be honest, we're both a bit scared. It feels like the motorhome's lifting up! Can you seasoned motorhomers please assure us that it feels worse than it really is. I'm thinking of just crawling under my duvet and hope it goes away. I also hope it isn't like this tomorrow when we have to drive home :eek:

The scariest drive was going to an aire inLeucate France.. 2 weeks ago. Had to drive across a causeway where we saw an overturned caravan in the field. Had just been blown off the road. We had to pull in as the wind had got under our roof light and threatened to blow it off. Even winding it back down was scary as I wasn't sure if I was winding it the right way and not opening it more. Worst weekend of our travels. We had to park in the aire engine to the worst of it. Very scary night trying to sleep with the wind rocking the van.The locals said it was a mistral wind.. Always blow there apparently.

After an 'interesting' drive to Nantes the other week (7th March?) we pulled into the entrance of Nantes Camping to find the gate locked and the site shut due to high winds. Scariest bit of the day was reversing back out onto the roundabout! Annoyingly, by that point in the day, the wind had dropped a lot and was only slightly more than a breeze.

It feels worse than it really is.

We've always managed to get a few hands to tip it back up when ours goes over. We know now to always put the corks in the bottles firmly when it's gusting.

A good trick on the motorway, as you feel it going over, steer for the armco barrier and a good whack will right it and save having to pick it up.
