Saw a man putting diesel into his freshwater tank today

The incident is a good argument for those special water fillers even if they stop one putting a hose direct into the orifice.

Fortunately our water filler is a long way from the diesel filler and a different cap design.

I am mor likely to put petrol in the diesel tank but I double check by checking the label before lifting the nozzle from the cradle and secondly by looking at the colour of the tab on the nozzle before inserting it.

Just checking its not April 1st...
No...blimey what an error🤬

how is that possible, the diesel is on the van, the water on the hab? and the size of the diesel nozzle?
surely his has to be questioned. Was he doing it as a prank maybe, or spoof video

Was filling up at the petrol station just out side Oban and a rented van was also filling up minding my own business the guy comes up to me covered in diesel and asked could I help him as every time he tried to fill up the diesel blew back on him. Went over and clocked he was trying to fill up with the lorry pump so sorted him out however from what I can remember the filler was inside the passenger door and diesel was all over the place. I also think the guy that was in the filling station looking out the window should have gone out and helped.

Robert, please tell me you waited till he’d filled it and then reminded him to fill the fuel tank with water.

What I don’t understand is why do manufacturers not fit a smaller hole for fresh water, that way you could get a hose in but not a fuel filler.
My fillers have always had a lock in them and that key is in the van. Key for diesel with my ignition key. No chance of getting it wrong. Buy a locking cap?

We have the same key for hab door, all lockers and both water and diesel filler caps!

That said, the water cap is blue, marked in four languages and at the rear on one side.
The diesel cap is black, also marked in four languages and at the front on the other side.

Never underestimate the ingenuity of an idiot

My van was a ex rental, there was stickers on everything.

On an 'A ' Class it is just one side wall. Mostly the diesel tank will still be near the 'cab' area so forward and the water tank further back, but the distinction is not as clear as with a 'C' Class.

No-one has been charged over the observatory fire yet, its all gone a bit quite, I'll post more when I find out whats happening.

my wife did this on my old trooper £10 in before she realised that water ment water:oops:,wasn't happy managed to sort ot out,2 weeks latter she put petrol in the deisel caro_O

In Italy we stopped for diesel at an independent filling station. The woman pump attendant had taken the cap off the fresh water filler when I had to jump out and stop her putting diesel in. My pidgin Italian is terrible but she got the message. Just in the nick of time, phew.

Maybe the label should have 'WATER O2' But there are still those who did not pay attention in Chemistry class, or skipped them to do Media Studies, which maybe should include videos of how not to make a fool of yourself in real life.

I think even those who skipped chemistry might ask what WATER O2 is.

A big blue picture of a tap should help those who are hard of common sense…..

You can’t do everything for people. Sometimes they need to learn for themselves.

After a trip to Garlieston I had to fuel up in Newton Stewart this morning, but just getting into the garage was bloody awkward.
A guy in a 70plate Bailey motorhome had come onto the forecourt against the normal flow of traffic & he couldn't give two hoots about the people who were trying to point out that he had jammed the whole place up.

So I sat in the open yard next to the filling station for the chaos to clear, I was busy chatting while waiting & just looking around when it dawned on me that he was busy filling his fresh water tank with diesel!
He looked a bit perplexed by the amount of diesel he was putting in & the damage was already done. I couldn't have got near to him, so there was no point in me doing anything.
I've probably caught it on dashcam, but not had a chance to download it yet, I think it was a hired motorhome, when I got a bit nearer I spotted in large writing FRESH WATER ONLY on the filler.

What on earth makes these people tick?
Heading to Garlieston in a few weeks. How was the mobile phone signal? Any chance of getting to stream Netflix etc?

Just a thought but those two things together maybe the driver should not be driving is there a cognitive issue going on (or drugs/drink). The perplexing look on their face when filling up could have been confusion, quite worrying really. Just to add our diesel tank takes 110 litres of fuel and the water tank 100 litres of Gin......I mean water.

Seriously though should they be driving given what you saw ?

If your on EE it pretty weak on 4G
About 1-2 bars at best
O2 is marginally better
Normal terrestrial TV reception is ok

Thanks for the info
Vodafone is not much better as well.
3 seems to have improved over the last few months however it's very variable, from 3-4 4G down to No Service.

If you are needing to make a call the signal at the bus stop at the village hall can be better or on the bigger beach at the top of the loch.

Streaming, would guess not a chance and that's why we've got satellite albeit reception is impossible on some pitches on the C&MC site. Believe it's almost non-existent on the C&CC CS next door.

A Bailey motorhome has 2 methods of water intake. 1) using a water hose directly into the top of the tank. No one in their right mind would use this method since it involves removing carpet and floor panel to gain access to top of tank. 2) using the Whale filler (usually from an Aqua-Roll or equiv.) So I think this is a spoof!! Good fun though. And yes, friend of mine recently did add £60.00 unleaded into his diesel tank so misfilling is not uncommon!!

Both my fill point are the same size but do have little labels set in stating diesel and the other wasser.
