Satnav for cycle

It doesnt but we seem to able to get GPS location on our radios and phones, inside, (not wifi) and spend a lot of time outdoors (if its dry)
How has it been going?

I left it with the wife.
She has worked it out.
I ve relented and looked at the instructions. Bleeding useless but I suspect the videos will enlighten me.
I am yet to look at how to plan a route (disused railway for example) on my phone and work out how to put it on to the dam thing.
I have the wife worked out how to turn it off.

I purchased a Wahoo Element Roam unit with all the kit for training etc, it does have satnav capability but have yet to use it. Has any one tried the Satnav on this type of kit? It also transfers my route to Strava with all the details so I could brag to my friends.......

Yes i use a Bolt for my rides, often using the GPS like today. So many nice features including route to start, rerouting and Strava segments.

Your Roam with it’s bigger screen is even better suited to GPS routing.

I plan my routes in Strava or import them in GPX format. It’s a seamless process from Strava to Elemnt, just create and then synch. For MTB routes i often copy them from apps like All Trails or similar.

I do the same process but you do have to be a Strava Premium member for drawing the route. I also use a Garmin Touring Plus which is basically a cut down Garmin 820. Loads of fun in France when it took us deep into a forest on Ile D'Oleron trying to use tracks rather than roads and promptly lost the signal. I'm reminded everytime we go out by Mrs Tandem about getting lost:rolleyes:. That said if you are prepared to take the risk it does some amazing routes. The farm track it found from Cap Coz back to Benodet was delightful, missing out the busy road 😊. How she let me take the route I'll never know but several glasses of wine might have had something to do with it. ::bigsmile:

Yes the off-road trails are often hard to follow and i use them quite a bit with MTB, often getting lost and having to stop or as 2wks back having to reroute due to fallen trees and closed paths.
