Salamanca route

Have stayed at Regio a few times, from our first ever motorhome trip abroad, to a couple of years ago. Not stayed on Quijote as it was shut the time we tried, should have had a better look at the ACSI book.
Not decided whether our trip this year will take us through there, depends how the hypnotherapy goes 🤣
panda the campsite is behind the hotel which is open 24/7 enough room off season to pitch up away from others and not to disturb, though there are always those who wish to herd.

Not anymore. The hotel and campsite are VERY separate and have what appears quite a lot of contempt for each other. Observations based on a Sept 2024 visit.

I've thought about this. I think maybe in the season it's different. All the times we've been to Regio its been very late in the year or very early. Which probably explains why the hotel staff double up to look after the quiet campsite.

We have always visited late in the season too. We parked, as usual, up by the entrance barrier to the campsite and as we have always done, walked down to reception and said we’d like a camping pitch. We were sternly told that the camping was nothing to do with them anymore and to use the campsite reception, which unlike previous visits was now open!

Campsite reception explained it had been bought recently and the hotel was now completely separate and please don’t go in there as they get a little irate?

So there you have it; divorced and run separately!

The single attraction of Regio for us was that we could arrive late. Straight from the ferry and then take a day or two to chill out. I doubt we'll use Regio again then.

Just been into Salamanca on the bikes nice and easy along the river and wow what a great city recommend to anyone.

The other big advantage of Regio is the end of the bus line is the hotel car park.
So it's very east to get a bus into town and back out again.

We would use it again
We tend to book the first night/last night campsite within an hour or two of the ferry, so we don't have a mad dash against the clock.
