As a newbie am unsure about where i can empty my chemical loo.is it ok to empty into a public loo.dont like the idea of emptying into roadside drains as dont want to harm the environment if i can help it.intend to wild camp for the most part.any advice would be welcome
Cheers Tony

By wild camp i presume free camp, ie no charge, we use sites typically every four nights so we can empty toilet and refill clean water

Some sites now allow for a small charge entry just to dump and refill , some even give you a few hours and allow access to showers

Never put toilet waste anywhere that isn’t authorised for it, certainly never a roadside drain

There are no circumstances where you should empty your black waste into a roadside or other drain.

You should look for authorised black waste disposal sites.
A public loo is at least there to take black waste. You might find some local authorities would still frown upon it.

The best thing is to book into a campsite for one night where you can dispose of it properly, along with your grey water and fill your water tank. Public toilets seem to be few and far between these days and if you really have no choice please leave it cleaner then you found it. Do not empty your toilet down any roadside drains or watercourses the sea etc. Please.

Roadside drains go into rivers. NEVER empty them into those. We have enough with the sewerage companies doing that. You would also be arrested for that as it is a criminal offence.
Also don't lift manhole covers to dump down unless you are sure it is a sewer not a storm drain. It is not always obvious which is which.

Public toilets are fine, but you may get funny looks as you leave. The smell and the noise of the emptying will give your cubicle neighbours serious concerns :p

The best bet in my opinion is to try to avoid using the cassette wherever possible by using toilets in pubs etc. Carry a spare cassette if you can. And visit campsites to empty.

Buy a second cassette , doubles the time between trips to an Elsan disposal point.. maybe up to 8 days or longer..
Dumping in a public toilet is frowned on.. it could also block it up causing no end of trouble..
you may not be aware, but some toilets now have pay to use with a paddle gate and CCTV covering the entry point..

The other thing is not to use blue chemical. Bio washing liquid does the job just as well, smells better and does not generally kill septic tanks. Loads of posts on here about alternatives to blue chemical.

I don't know for certain but I think Bio washing liquid WILL kill the little critters in a Septic Tank (not cesspit, vast difference) or so I was told when I had my organic smallholding.
If you must, use non-bio but far better to pay for a campsite occasionally, shower, empty & refill your grey & black water.
I would not want to sit on a public toilet after someone had just emptied their cassette down it, would you?

Sorry to whoever created this I have forgotten who but use this along map for disposal sites.

I wouldn't sit on a public toilet period....I mean, not that I have a period, but you know what I mean?

The stuff in the cassette is the same as what you are putting down the toilet, so providing they haven’t got it all over the seat, what’s the problem 😂

As you say, 'providing they got it all over the seat' this is someone who is new to emptying a cassette?
From what I have seen while following people into the chemical disposal point, even some more experienced people have trouble achieving it.

really ?

it's nigh impossible to empty a cassette and not have it splash..

.. when the brown soup hits the water, it hits like a dam-buster bomb, splashing all over and outside the bowl.. onto the floor , over the walls etc..

if you do this normally you need to see a doc ..:ROFLMAO:

That’s what I’ve always understood as a sometime user of a septic tank. Bio powders contain enzymes that can destroy the microorganisms that produce the anaerobic digestion of poo

Sorry but clearly you are doing something wrong, after countless trips I’ve emptied my cassette into my downstairs loo and never had any splash back out of the bowl and definitely none on the floor or the walls

Perhaps it’s yourself that needs to see the doc😂

I manage to do it regularly in the downstairs bog at home, no splashback on the floor /walls /seat etc. You must be aiming from height.

😂😂😂😂😂. It’s not that bad 😂. We often use the downstairs loo and have no problems 👍

My mate popped into a bar and asked if he could use the toilet, which the barman said fine. When he came out he ordered a drink and some crisps and sat down.

Barman then came over really irate and asked him about the mess in the gents toilet, as there was poo up the walls, over the floor and door and even the ceiling. My mate said he was really sorry about that but he couldn’t help himself as he took salts. Furious barman said he took liver salts and never had a problem, so what salts did he take. He told him straight……….summer.

Now as for emptying the black waste, you need Operation Dump The Dumps….

While out wild camping or being an FLT around Norfolk, I was stealth dumping my black waste in Tescos and chatting about it on another tread when I was asked how I did it.

Op Dump the Dumps involves taking the cassette out, popping it inside a black plastic bag and slipping it into my burgan. Then off to the loo where it's emptied ready for further use.

The journey back with the empty cassette is a lot easier, lighter and less "sploshy" than on the way there.

Virtually every public toilet on the NC500 route in Scotland says 'no emptying of motorhome toilets'.
If true, then they bring it on themselves when they complain that shit is found at the side of the road/in hedges/in sand dunes/in water courses/public places etc etc etc if they stop people from at least trying to dispose of waste in acceptable facilities

To be honest, it is not difficult to find places to 'officially' empty. We managed 2 weeks off grid with no problem. There was a campsite that was free to empty, another that charged £3 and a Air B & B that had a empty point in their drive with a donation box. Park4night app is helpful in finding these places. There are so many good public toilets on the route that it is easy enough not to overuse your own toilet. I guess they put the signs there due to the mess motorhomers were making emptying.

This should read, of course, 'providing they HAVEN'T got it all over the seat'

Note to self, always read before posting! 🙄
