Safe position

Ask the question on here---who has been broken into or gassed whilst this side of the channel , not someone that knows someone that knows someone or read about it in the DM

and then ask the similar question whilst they were in Blighty

This may highlight the few places to avoid, or certain situations to be aware of

We have been travelling around Europe for the last 7 years and have not had any problems . We do have an alarm which we use nightly mainly because I sleep better knowing it is on . Sometimes if we arrive in a new Aire and we do not like the look of it we simply move on ...it is always good to have a plan B and very rarely plan C . We do not have a safe as such but we have a very good hiding place . Just take normal precautions where ever you go and you will be fine .

Difficult to totally hide a safe and often difficult to bolt it down securely. If a scrote does manage to get into your van and finds your safe, you may well return to your van to find an empty space where your safe was.

My advice would be to leave as many "valuables" as you can at home (unless you're planning to be gassed in which case take your Rolexes and all your family silver).
With less to worry about it's much easier to find little, difficult to access, hidey holes.

Our safe is located under one of our rear seats. We have no alarm system but would recommend that the locks be adequate. The lock on our side door was very flimsy and someone forced it once. Since we put a stronger lock on we have had no problems. Common sense is often your best defense. We are now on our 7th trip to Europe and have felt safe in over 35 countries that we have traveled in. Not sure where you are reading about how bad it is??
