Rusty Nuts

When I pulled the wheels off my MB base Hymer , I found the wheels were stuck on the rear hubs.
Used a club hammer to get them off, the inside of the alloy hubs had grown int to steel hubs with A build up of aluminium Oxide Which was hard to move off the steel.. the bimetallic corrosion was to fault as there was no protection between the bare metals. It is now four years old So might have been a problem on the road with a flat tyre. Cleaned them back, self etched the bare metal and a thin layer of copperslip to stop it.
I think most others will suffer the same, my transit based one was and those wheels were never off beforeI got it and needed to be removed with a jack because of corrosion.

What size wheelnut covers will they be ,or is that different for different size wheels

Amazon advertise numerous sellers most of which mention base vehicle.

If you've got a socket set try various sockets on a wheel nut to find out. We have a Fiat with the camper chassis and it has 21mm wheel nuts.

It’s a July 2019 fiat Ducato With alloys
Yes but the chassis may have been built 2 years earlier
The tyres have the week manufactured stamped,

i saw a brand new unregistered Autotrail at my local dealer in Jun 2019 which had week 03 2017 tyres on it

Never the less should they be going rusty at such a young age ?

So we’ve established Italians nuts get Old before German nuts, so Italians need to smear their nuts in grease (or copper slip) and keep them covered with 21mm nut covered available on Amazon 😉
