Run to the sun….

Thanks for a great positive thread from another hijacker.

Well this thread will still be open for anyone doing a run to the sun, so keep posting billym Morocco will be looking different without so many motorhomes about…👍🏼

When I’m back in the uk I’ll still be looking for the sun and a few trips will I’m sure be undertaken in the summer so it’s not the end it just moves in a different direction and that’s what I love about this thread lots of people have contributed and talked about many things… it may just move at a slower pace but it will move from time to time…

So if you have any travel info then just pop up a post as there’s lots following and a good audience will know about it…

Thank you once again for all your thanks and wishes…🍻☀️😎

Staying another day at this little camperstop as it’s a nice quiet place to get a few jobs done.
Plenty of could about with the occasional shower but when the sun shines it fills my batteries and all full again.

My plan is to have a good drive tomorrow to Palencia and stay at the garage/petrol park-up for the weekend to watch F1 and give the van a good wash with the gantry that they have there. Then a few hours drive to Santander for the 5pm ferry..☀️😎

Thanks Just smiffy for this very interesting thread.
I also think you seem like a great guy. I appreciate your sense of humor(y)

You’ve got to have humor life sometimes is too serious and I do sometimes say if you stop laughing then you’ve given up on life..☺️

I'd just like to concur with all the others Garry it's been a great wee thread and nice to see & hear your opinions on Morocco and I think you put a very honest perspective across on the place, its not perfect, far from it, but where is.... its like all things in life mate its all about your perception of everything and how you react to it 😉
Also thank you for allowing me lots of hijacking on your thread and I know I did it with your blessing which again shows us the unselfish type of guy you are, speaking of which it was great to meet up with you & the lovely Cintia too and all the other funsters along the way we had a great trip this year too and we're looking forward to next winter already, so thanks again and I know we'll keep in touch, you know I'm only on the other end of the phone for a chat anytime
Take care & thanks again for your great thread View attachment 1038566

It was indeed great meeting you Paul and the week we spent together formed a life long friendship along with the The Boofles

Pressed the reply button too soon..😆🤣

I met a lot of funsters in Morocco and getting there through Spain and it was a pleasure meeting you all and seeing you from time to time as we all traveled around but would end up in the same place… you all know who you are…🍻

A shame I didn’t get to meet jongood and Barchetta47 so Close yet so far away…😉

Er .. are you sure you're safe to be let anywhere near a gantry after your last mishap? 😄

One of the reasons for me going to tafroute was for the festival but postponed for Ramadan…😏

And a perfect view for a beer at the bar… enjoy billy..🍻🍻☀️😎

It’s an ok little aire this that I’m on by Palencia,, lovely new clean shower and toilets… it’s free to stay but €2 showers and I think €1 water. It has a big gantry for washing motorhomes €1 for 5 mins and free Wi-Fi.. a short walk into town …👍🏼

It was full when we went there last September. We endured up in Ampudia which was stunning next to the castle, but no facilities.

Yes agree, great place that, and the garage owners so friendly as well, all the facilities and good location on the edge of the park area as well across the road

There’s obviously a couple of free loaders here and been here for months by the look of it but they haven’t got loads of crap outside, a few bits but more defining their area, ones a caravan of course and I suppose the owners of the place could shift them on…🤔 caravans are allowed on here as there are a few staying for a night or two…

It does make me wonder why there aren’t places like this in the uk…? Planning and red tape I suppose, owners here could easily charge €5-10 a night here but it seems their happy with what they get from the showers, car wash and custom at the garage…

Then again if we did have places like this in the uk it would be full of FLT’s all year…😏

I think they worry about travellers using the sites. Overall I think the UK is shortsighted about aires generally, although there are small signs of improvement.

Billy no mates.......yes that's me.
There's plenty of people about, just not motorhomers. Actually the site on the front is quite busy.

Ramadan 2026 estimated 17 Feb
2027 estimated 7 Feb

Definitely something to consider when planning a post Christmas trip unless you are doing a whirlwind tour and not staying anywhere for more than a night ot two

Yes Ramadan is something to consider because going out for lunch or even dinner with a beer or wine is a big part of a holiday for most and to go without for a month is a long time…🤔
