Luang Prubang is supposed to be very nice but air travel in Laos is apparently very dangerous.Laos is definitely on the list. We might do a travelogue in the U shaped lounge, not sure its appropriate though as no motorhomes involved.

Put some more air in your tyres.
Luang Probang was an oasis in a wilderness 10 years ago. We crossed from Myanmar into Northern Thailand and stayed a couple of weeks in Chang Mai, had a great time there after the some what ‘raw’ experience in MM. We then caught a bus up to the border with Laos on the Mekong. After that the ‘Slow Boat’ to LP. It took the best part of 2 days with an over night stop, I think the boat cost £10. A great experience which you won’t regret.Luang Probang is on the list. No idea how we will travel around yet, but may take some flights...you only live once.

Too greedy.STOPPED by COPs
As I left the campsite this morning I took the feeder lane from the roundabout then parked up outside the shop to get some water, walking cop comes up behind me and taps on passenger window.. winds down and he’s English was no good.. best I could understand was I was supposed to stop before coming of the feeder lane shows me a piece of paper with 400dh on it I said no.. take me to the police station, I saw he turned off his camera so I got my phone said don’t turn off I will video too.. he then waved his finger and started to get the arse, so I put the phone back on the holder and inspector came over who spoke better English and again said I didn’t stop..
I said sorry but the sign is in Arabic and I thought the feeder lane was ok so I said thank you for the warning but I’m not paying 400dh he took all my paperwork and gave them back one by one and started talking about someone in England.. other cop wanted to see my phone I said no.. inspector said go, welcome to Morocco…
Chancer …![]()

How many camels she can get for you !!!
Sorry Gary but this market has been running for a thousand years. If you did that then you would likely make world headlines for ending it! Probably it would begin again a thousand miles further south. Not saying you're not pretty mindFiddlesticks all….but I could make a tidy little sum begging out here if I roughed myself up a bit put on me Moroccan jacket and took my teeth out then sat on a skateboard….

Sorry Gary,Hijacking’s Garry’s thread as I know he doesn’t mind. Do you have any accommodation booked or just winging it as you go, we had hoped to go around this time but granddaughter arriving has delayed. We’re not wanting to book too much in advance so if you’re just winging it we’d certainly be interested on how it goes. Sophie did Asia after uni and says it’s dead easy to find accommodation, I don’t think she realises we’re in our mid 50s so might want slightly comfier than she had
Apologies Garry for going off thread.
We started backpacking when we were around 50 and we are now over pension age. However we are now termed dragpackers as our rucksacks have wheels as well. We very rarely book anything apart from our first and last night for flights. In the early days we used Lonely Planet to get an idea of where accommodation was then just went from door to door until we found something we liked at a price we liked. It’s amazing what deals you can do on the doorstep. Now with the internet it’s easy to find the same areas with a booking site, but turn up just the same and negotiate. There’s always a good deal to be done regardless of comfy levels. A good tip is overnight trains and buses, travel and accommodation sorted at the same time.Hijacking’s Garry’s thread as I know he doesn’t mind. Being a military man planning and preparing makes for an effective and efficient outcome!I’m not a planner, I usually don’t know what I’m doing tomorrow let alone next year…
