I'm adding a set of these fiamma rails and bars to my A class (just bought some from Wilmond as part of their clearance) , to carry windsurfer and kayak on some trips....yes I know I'll need a ladder to load it.
the example fixture as per above stock photos from fiamma, shows a metal awning type rail down the side of the van as part of the roof, with the rail fixed to that. The only way to fix them the rails down is screws (you can see the holes in the end caps). my mh doesn't have such a rail, just the coachbuilt white GRP roof.
I am thinking to buy some flat aluminium bar maybe 5 or 10 mm thick, bit wider than the base of the brackets, bond that to the roof with CT1 , then screw through that, to spread the load and give the aluminium as the primary holding point for the screws
thoughts?
