Don't own one yet
Hi we're picking up our 2018 Elddis 155 in a couple of weeks and I've just looked into the road tax. Have I read it correctly, as the original list price was over £40k and the engine is 2L I'm going to have to pay £280 + £335 (for first 5 years) ???
Cheers
Andy

Don't know how they managed that, 1st registration should have been about £2300 then around an additional £350 on top of VED for the next 5 years.
My van was registered in March 2020 I collected it on the 10th March 2020 but because the van was a 2019 model and almost 10 months old it escaped the £2300 VED. I only pay £265. That's what the dealer told me and it was advertised as "Low tax rate" as it escaped the new rate.

Nothing to do with the age of the vehicle it was the date of registration and emissions.

At the time I bought mine the dealer had new unregistered vans onsite with the new £2300 tax band and several older unregistered "new" ones at £265. I didn't argue with them.

You said it was March, on March 12th the high rate was scrapped.

You were lucky.
I think so, I wasn't sure about it all at the time but I do remember the dealer mentioning the new road tax costs of new vans and him saying that because ours was an older unregistered van we were getting it at the old rate. We didn't argue :giggle:

AFAIK it had to meet both of the below to be hit with the higher tax, ie be classified as a M1SP and have the emissions on the COC, if not then it wouldn't be hit by the new emissions based rate and the luxury tax:

The question is really does your COC have emissions on?

I don't know. Not sure I want to know :censored:. I'm sure the dealer knew what they were doing .

That extra only applies if it was registered between 1st September 2019 and 12th March 2020.

Edit:
Dates now correct.
That's a close one. Ours was registered on 27/08/2019 phew !!!

Which part do you want to know?
.... emissions ....

On our COC it's section 49. "enfallt be M1" which translates as "not applicable to M1"

As yours was made in Slovakia it might say something like "neplatí pre M1".

Just go on gov website type in your vehicles details and that will tell you what the tax rate will be

I've just that my new van was registered and taxed by the dealership in November 2019.

Just remembered something that solves the mystery, the higher rate only applied to Euro 6D engines and I think the first Motorhomes with them in were 2020 models produced from around September 2019.

That's it -- I do remember now that it did depend on the Euro 6 types :drinks:
