Just sold a Frankia.
We are very interested in this 'van, but concerned about a ripple that goes the width of the 'van roof, just behind the main seal above the cab. It looks as if the fabric has lifted, but it should be solid material. Also, the roof is sandy brown in colour, and we've never seen that before on a motorhome. Water ingress or a complete botch job? Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks, Phil D. I'll try to send photos, but I am not confident in my ability to do so! But hopefully....

Very many thanks to TheBig1. Without this sort of advice we could be making a terrible mistake on buying this 'van, which in all other respects is truly immaculate.

Never seen a brown roof before! Its non-standard therefore a problem if you ever came to resell it. Looks to me like there has been water ingress where the water has pooled just behind the Heki and there has been an attempted repair not carried out well. Steer well clear!

Everyone, I am new to forums, and to how useful they can be. I am very grateful for all of your 'negative' comments! We thought the brown roof might have been because it is a special edition, but it's probably more sinister than that. I don't think we can take the risk. Thank you all.

Stupid and lazy idea to spray the roof a weird colour, it's drawn attention to the problem area. If they can't be bothered to get the correct colour they are hardly likely to have done a professional repair.

Yes walk away and well done as lots don't once they get hooked on a van, only to pay dearly later.

Always another van out there for you.

Walk away because of the colour of the roof, certainly !!! And also walk away as you will always have a nagging doubt about the vehicle.

But the roofs on a Chausson are known as floating roofs and typically are not bonded for the first 9" at the front behind where the grp section joins. Which might account for the ripples, ours is not as bad as that, but some small rippling can be seen and there is no (according to damp meters) damp in that area.

Did you actually see the roof?
Sometimes fluorescent lights can confuse the white balance on a camera.
Look at the fiberglass edging - it has some brown shading to it also.
There is also a small amount of shading to the top of the awing.
I cant believe anyone would paint it like that!!

I assumed the photo was taken by the OP and that the shading was overspray as they hadn't bothered to mask it up. Probably not visible from the ground.
