Rewhitening yellowed plastic

My Hymer (2003) plastics have gone a similar way, I think the chemical remedies may be too strong for the plastic.
I've had good results though using rattle cans to spray paint off white, usually called ivory or antique white. So far I've done the hab door (interior) front window surrounds, main skylight surround and a few other bits.
Careful prep is needed and a primer base coat.
I'd like to do the bathroom sink but haven't done so far as I'm not sure about how waterproof the spray will be ?
I'll probably give it a go over the winter.

It’s definitely the sun that does as we have yellow shower area and it has a clear line across it where the shower door frame protects it from the sun.

I've used a marine product 'Y10' gel, the active ingredient being oxalic acid successfully on the waterline staining on a white hull. Don't leave it on for more than a few minutes as it's fairly aggressive and wash thoroughly. I solved the problem with the next boat which had a hull colour that matched a smoker's teeth.

I think it's possibly in the nature of the raw materials, like gloss paint. Gloss paint is basically a varnish with some colour tints added. It will go yellow eventually back to the colour of varnish. Oddly, where the light doesn't get at it so readily, like behind door jambs, etc. it goes yellow even quicker.
Water based paints stay whiter for significantly longer. I have used swimming pool grade diluted chlorine on yellowing patio furniture, BUT would not advocate using it on precious motorhome plastics.

What’s wrong with yellow ?
Nothing if it all went yellow but parts don't ,so you end up with a mish mash
We only have a rooflight in the bathroom for ventilation (no clear plastic) and it's not over the shower side.

I don't know how it's got so yellow.
I have an ac unit in the lounge. The whole front cover has turned yellow yet the air flap that goes up & down has stayed white as has all the back casing? None of this even sees the sun.
The external sun visor I have on the van was the same white as the vehicle .Now it is yellowed yet the rear of it hasn't?

You beat me to the recommendation for Y10 gel which you should be able to get from any chandlery. You will also find Starbrite Hull Cleaner just as effective. It's a spray on as opposed to the Y10 which is brush on.

So you can actually buy Paint ! its 2 part and it is used on Boat Hulls if what ever you use fails . However Starburst Pink Stuff is an environmentally friendly cleaner and costs about £1.00 and does the job and it is also suitable for Vegans so for the sake of £1.00 id try this first also remember using some other cleaners You need to be in a well ventilated Area or wear a mask !!!!

Someone recommended the Pink stuff but the info says not recommended on plastic!

Have you used it?

What about faded or discoloured vinyl decal strips and motif's ?? What can be used to restore those ??

Sadly once uv has degraded the vinyl of the decals, they cannot be repaired, just replaced. There are a few companies about that will make a similar set. Buying from the converter will make your wallet cry
