I don't bank with Revolut but just been watching a scam on BBC 1 - Rip off Britain

When a customer looks for a customer service telephone number on Google, and there at the top of the page is a paid ad, with a fake number. On contacting what they think is Revolut, they are talked into moving their money to a "new" bank account, for the money never to be seen again

Have had 2 emails supposedly from Revolut in last couple of months, they looked genuine both asked to click on a link to confirm account details. Ignored both but it’s easy to see how some could be duped, where do they get info from to target Revolut customers or is it just a blanket operation in the hope they find some?

Typically it's a full fishing (phishing) operation where they flood lots of email accounts & hope its related to some readers.
Not user about the specific Revolut example but expect its indiscriminate too.

It's more effort to target specific use cases then just flooding all types.

Surely, (Don't call me Shirley) if the 'Advert' is on Google, they, Google have some culpability.
I wouldn't have thought they could accept money without being responsible.

The phone number on Google is a popular one people know how to manipulate Google to get there ad at the top whether its revolut,Microsoft or any other scam

It is a paid for Advert which brings it to the top of the page with the letter ads next to it

Why would you even want to bank with a bank called Revolut, they sound like a bent Russian money laundering outfit, 🥴🥴🥴
I use it as my main personal account because it is excellent. The phone app is brilliant and has never let me down.

Only needed customer support once and was dealt with very efficiently via the in app chat feature.

...because it is simply the BEST way to move money around and exchange it into different currencies with no charges and get interbank exhange rate at the exact time you convert... plus many many many other features...

Not suitable for dinosaurs as you need an internet connection to access the app although you can use the card in the old fashioned way.

JJ

easy to say that! evidence please?

i have a Revolut account and its a great way of dealing with travel monies and instant notification when a transaction happens.
i have only once had to contact them regarding a possible scam and had a very effective response in less than 5 minutes.

Revolut are not responsible for the scams or do you believe they actively support or encourage them??

Well been using Revolut for 3 years now all around the world. I agree name is odd, but service is great.

I keep it down to very basic amount however I can in about 2 minutes transfer whatever amount I want from UK or Spanish bank account.
As soon as I use it even before the card machine has left my table etc, my phone alarts me the card has been used, the amount and map of where it was used.

No bank does that or at least not that I know of........

Sick to death of Revolut, I have been unable to login for months but the only way of complaining is to first login

The other thing I like is I can disable my card from using cashpoints via the app. If I lose the card it reduces the risk. If a transaction gets declined I get an in app message pretty much immediately telling me it has been declined and why.
The list of great features just goes on and on.

Been in Spain for six weeks now and revolut is my cash. 💶💶💶
I stopped using cash about 18 months ago when I realised how easy revolut is to use in the shops I go to using contactless payment.
Online I purchase using paypal linked to either my business account or my revolut account.

Everything is so much easier now.

Gromett , not only for Europe, soon as I see a good rate for the Thai baht, I exchange a decent amount and transfer to my Thai bank, No charge from revolut , £5.00 for transfer from Thai bank regardless how much the transfer is.

Maybe time to do a bit of homework yourself rather than comments from others or personal experience yourself. Just reporting what I have read this year but it’s you that have the account not me.

I didn't mean just a black and white block. Revolut allows you to turn features on and off individually. Swipe, Contactless, ATM and total block. You can turn features off instantly individually. Not saying others don't do it. Just first time I have seen it done and no traditional bank offers features like revolut. I never withdraw cash from revolut account, never use swipe and always use contactless so everything is turned off except contactless.

My son lost over £800 from his revolut card he had a message from them saying they had frozen his card ,he was abroad at the time and the only way to contact them is via online chat
His email account and password had been changed ...no secondary check by revolut 3 money transfers in 10 minutes and an attempt to take money put via atm ?
Revolut say its his fault as he email must have been compromised they didn't even attempt a charge back
If you Google you will find quite a few people have had same problem
Avoid

I simply asked you to provide the evidence to support the allegations you have made. You have chosen not to do that.

Thats fine.
