The older analogue 2.4GHz wireless cameras have a pretty bad reputation. They have poor image quality, poor reception and will sometimes fall to trigger, or you'll randomly get an image from someone else's camera at a random time. And they still need wiring to your reversing light.

Generally wired is more reliable and not that much harder to DIY in for a van.

The newer digital wireless systems from companies like Vox are supposed to be considerably better. They are huge resolution and have a more robust signal. I'm not convinced the battery or solar ones are a good idea though.

Personally I'm looking to put in a wired dual lens camera. Possibly a AHD (analogueHD) one if I can. But it will mean I need to use a dedicated monitor, it won't work as a reversing camera on my radio head unit as the AHD signal is incompatible.
