Reversing camera on my 2020 Swift Kon-Tiki suddenly stopped working while I was driving. When parked up I took out the fuse and inspected it visually and that seems AOK. It is fuse 51 according to the FIAT handbook. That said I don't know if the reversing camera/mirror was a FIAT fit or a Swift fit. Any ideas on how to fix welcome.

I've had three failures, each time it was water getting into the camera. The first two resulted in a blank screen and my present failure gives me an out of focus image. The cameras are very cheap from ebay unless you have a special model. The important thing is to seal around the lead where it enters the camera with silicon sealant and LET IT DRY for a few hours before re-installing it.

You can buy a replacement on ebay, they are not expensive, it just clips onto the mirror

GeeCee I'm unclear whether you have a camera fault or a monitor fault. Is power getting to your monitor? Press any buttons to get a display. I'm assuming a camera fault. Also, as it stopped working as you were driving along I think we are talking about a rear view camera - not a reversing camera. A reversing camera needs to be wired into your reversing light whereas yours doesn't.

On my van (an Elddis Accordo) the video + 12v power cable went from the monitor to the camera without any fuse. The camera is powered from the monitor. The monitor has a short cable which plugs into a cable behind the windscreen surround. The camera has a similar short length of cable tucked into the bodywork behind the camera which is plugged into another cable run. The two cable runs are plugged into eachother somewhere accessible in the van which in my case was behind a panel at the foot of the pillar behind the driver's seat.

I managed to change camera myself encouraged by the price of the camera, around £25! Tools: step ladder, clear silicon sealant, screwdriver, electrical tape to wind around the plug and socket.

The rear camera monitor in My Adria Matrix failed suddenly a few weeks ago and turned out to be the power supply had failed , the black plug shown in pic. Just fixed Monday by replacing lead from an old cigarette lighter powered laptop lead. Mines is a Camos unit supplied with van From new

This is the same on my Mohawk. There is a very flimsy connector about a foot away fron the unit behind the trim over the sunvisor which is often working loose and being very small and no clip to secure it can give this fault. it is a retrofit "Vehicle blackbox DVR " sold at every show by a very reputabl;e trader with a small dog so funsters will know who i mean.

Yes worth a try thanks
Hi GeeCee,

We have exactly the same problem with our 2018 Swift Kontiki. I've replaced the camera interface (EM5.6) with a new one, checked every fuse I can find and tried a another screen from a friends van, all to no avail. The screen remains blank. There is 12v to the E5.6 but this drops to around 2v when I plug the cables in from the cameras and the screen. What was the outcome of your fault and did you contact Sargent? Were they helpful? Any info appreciated - I have half the interior trim off in ours and I'm running out of ideas!

Thanks for any help,
Pugwash

In the end I took it back to the dealer to fix. But they've had a look at it and say it's the consumer unit that's failed, i.e. the screen component. So they've sent off to Sargent for a replacement. That was a few weeks ago and I'm waiting to hear when they are ready to fit the replacement, which I'm going to have to pay for (not covered under warranty).

Thanks for your prompt reply. I'm not in the UK and it's not so easy to find someone here who is familiar with the system so I'll persevere and probably contact Sargent directly for advice. Somewhere there's a hidden connection or fuse that I need to find!
Thanks again - appreciate your response.

We have Swift Kon-Tiki 599 Sport and the rear view has stopped a few times, reversing camera still worked, but so
far has always come back.
Latest was driving across Death Valley, ironically in the rain, stopped/restated several times,
it came back on after stopping for diesel a couple of hours.
It has stopped working before in dry weather and has worked OK in torrential rain.
This is our first motorhome and I really have to question the Kon-Tiki being a "premium" product.
Don't get me started on them.....

Those screens that clip over the mirror have a plug and socket in the wire feeding it. Try unplugging and plugging back in, it often works. The power for the screen is often from the light in the roof beside it. You take the light fitting down and there is a fuse in there. Others I have seen tapped into the radio power circuit behind the head unit, where they pick up the reversing circuit too

Thanks for this - mine isn't a clip-on one, it's screwed to the mirror fitting on the screen. The power comes through the DIN plug which connects it but I don't know where the power originates. This is turning into a bit of a challenge! Behind the radio might be worth a look...

Follow the wires. They will go down behind the A pillar of the windscreen to the dashboard for at least the signal wires. The interior light is a very popular point to draw power for the screen as it is only a few inches away. Depends on who installed it

Update, 2021 Kon Tiki 599 very heavy rain in Natchez Mississippi, sometime screen just black others "no signal" message from both AV1 & AV2 for 3 days now, so screen seems live. would seem to be a damp issue effecting both cameras.
Hopefully they will dry out but I have submitted it as a warranty issue.
