It's only that I saw and ignored it initially, as I was browsing for details of 2017 events.
Yes, I know I should, (and I really am trying to) get out more ;)

Having a look at the line up for the three stages & will post any available videos of the acts to try & tempt as many Funsters to come along as possible!

"One of the UK’s leading professional, vintage style bands.
The New Vintage Band will blow your socks off with their mix of 1930s Jazz, 40s Swing and Jive, 50s Rock & Roll and 60s Soul. They want to see you Lindy, Jive, Twist and Boogie the night away.
The NVB is made up of incredibly talented, professional musicians and fronted by charismatic crooner Phil Lyons. Since 2011 the NVB have performed their unique show to weddings, parties and events all over the UK to great acclaim.
We are thrilled to have the NVB kick off the weekends music in the Spitfire Pavilion!"

More acts on Friday:
"Bo Walton was born in the little village of Marden in Herefordshire, UK. At the age of 5/6 he began listening to his parents albums of Elvis, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly, Billy Fury and Jerry Lee. He formed his first performing band when he was 14, playing mainly pop-rock covers but every now and then dropping in an Elvis or Cochran track and it was quite obvious how much that style of music had influenced him!"

Go to 2 minutes in to see him performing.

" Rockin’ em are an exciting 3 piece 50’s style Rock ‘n’ Roll band guaranteed to stir up nostalgic memories of the 50’s even if you are not old enough to remember that far back! These guys will have you jiving and bopping and having a ball with great authentic sounds of Rock ‘n’ Roll. They play anything from Rock ‘n’ Roll classics to beautiful ballads."

On Saturday:
Kal's Kats
"Fast becoming one of the most popular vintage swing bands in the UK playing music from the roaring 20’s through to the swing and rock n roll era. Guaranteed to get you jumping and swinging from the rafters and will even teach you some of the dance moves – a simply brilliant vintage swing band."

Dickie De Vere & The Dorchester Mavericks
"Formed in 2015, by a group of seasoned local musicians, the band began by playing a selection of dance band favourites from the 1920’s and 30’s, with a reverential nod to Al Bowlly, but soon expanded their repertoire to include popular songs from the 1940’s and 50’s."

Oops forgot to add these ones for Friday:
"For many years now The Union Gap UK has gained great success on the 60’s circuit playing at all the major festivals, theatres, holiday centres etc throughout the UK and Europe. The band has worked extensively to put together a repertoire of classic songs from the ’60s and ’70s, which they perform either in the original form or in their own unique style – many of which appear on their various studio albums. The band have also devoted a great deal of time and effort to perfect their concert sound, which is always complimented upon wherever they appear."

"The Fourmost had its roots steeped in the eclectic 1960’s Mersey beat boom and was part of the Brian Epstein stable along with The Beatles, Billy J Kramer, Gerry and The Pacemakers and others. The band has evolved from enjoying 1960’s chart hits such as Hello Little Girl (no.9) and A Little Loving (no.6) and less popular songs as Baby I Need Your Lovin, Here There and Everywhere and a cover of George Formby’s Auntie Maggie’s Remedy."

This act was great last year  It's almost worth going to Newark Retro just for this one (y)

"Since his self penned ‘Jackie Wilson’ style track entitled ‘Dynamo’ exploded onto the vintage dance floors around the world, Si Cranstoun & his band have continued to win over thousands of followers both on and off the retro scene. Si’s voice effortlessly reaches the sweet spots where the legendary tones of Sam Cooke, Nappy Brown & Jackie Wilson can be found and his abilities to raise the roof have consistently become a fundamental of every show."

More for Saturday:
"Scorching a trail across the live music venues of the land is this sizzlin’ hot 1950’s R&B combo – The Revolutionaires!

Established within the ‘hotbed’ of the North East music scene in the UK, they power out jumpin’ hot rhythm & blues in their own indomitable hard hitting style. Primarily, they are influenced by 1940’s and 1950’s R&B. In particular, Louis Jordan, Big Joe Turner, Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Roy Brown but have adopted a harder and more aggressive approach, synonymous with modern blues artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Duke Robillard, Jools Holland and Mike Henderson which helps create their own high energy sound."

"All singing, all dancing, all tapping vintage trio, bringing perfect harmonies and toe tapping rhythms to every performance. Think three lovely ladies with red lips, vintage couture and big smiles. With sharp choreography and a playful approach, My Favourite Things bring cute, sassy and sexy to any event. Combining authentic dance moves and classic hits from the 1930s-1950s, will they be your favourite thing?"

"Inspired by the great vocalists from the golden age of jazz, Miss Rosie assembled The Moonshyne Runners in the spring of 2016 with a mission to resurrect the spirit of swing. Playing a repertoire rooted in the songs of the 1930’s, this band will bring the bounce back to your steps."

Something different?!
"An original good-time band: gentrified pop in 1920’s fashion.
Striking out with hotsy-totsy, modern vigour, they elegantly escort carnivals of wild, youthful creatures into the decade of excess and innovation. Their contagious zeal bewitches even the most unwilling wallflower, rekindling the spirit of the Ritz and champagne fizz of the flappers. An esteemed musical fraternity, they proffer the hottest modern hits with precision and humour, ushering in 20’s style with gentrified contemporary pop. Towering above the dance hall assembly, celebrity socialite Lord Acton and his roaring band, Black Sheikhs, exemplify the eccentricity and sparkle of 1920’s British style and rhythm."

Loads more acts to add yet - so much music! :dance2:Only 5 weeks to Newark Retro so if you want to come along download the form (on page 1 of this thread) & get booked in for this one (y) Don't forget there is the air museum & farm shop & restaurant on/next to the airfield that look worth a visit. Weather permitting there will be an air show too. We will have a well located camping area at a great price with the option of EHU & good company :)

Still more for Saturday:
"The UK’s only tribute to 60s mod legends, the Small Faces, were formed in 2007 and with over 300 shows behind them, The Small Fakers are established in the Premiership of tribute acts. They have built a terrific international reputation for themselves as the ONLY Small Faces tribute band in the WORLD, and have played to sell-out audiences in Italy, Spain, Switzerland and the Republic of Ireland, and all over the UK. They have played the Isle of Wight festival four times and were at the Retro Festival in Newbury last year where they went down a storm! We are delighted to welcome them back!"

"Big Stuff are a lively, energetic, Soul band covering the classic Soul sounds of the Sixties and Seventies. Having been together for some 10 years, playing classics such as Dancing in the Street, Soul Man, Respect, Superstition, Rescue Me and many more."

"The Moondogs are a young, vibrant 3 piece cover band recreating the sights, sounds and raw energy that defined the 50s and 60s. Based in Middlesbrough, The Moondogs have been performing their shows around the country for the last 18 months to much acclaim. Between 2013 and 2016 they regularly performed at The World Famous Cavern Club in Liverpool."

On Sunday:
"The Signatures are a ten piece Northern Soul Band from Essex. Originally formed in 2009 and recently evolving into the current line up bringing their own brand of power and energy to what has been described as one of the best live acts around.

The Signatures put their own expression to many classic Northern Soul numbers creating a true balance between authentic and modern in sound. As a headline act The Signatures give a full set of passion and energy guaranteeing to get an audience out on the floor "

"The Electric Swing Circus is a live 6-piece fusion of saucy 20’s swing and stomping electro beats. Drawing influence from 1920’s swing and jazz, the explosive sound of the Electric Swing Circus reverberates back through time, re-inventing the genre of electro-swing for an ever expanding, multi-generational audience.
The ESC’s sound is a powerful combination of electric double bass, vintage samples, gypsy-jazz guitar, keys, live drums, dirty synths and electro beats. Fronted by a sassy female double-act, with extensive variety of vocal styles, the ESC delivers a consistently dazzling show. Their debut, self-titled album is available now on Ragtime Records."

"Café Manouche are a young Gypsy jazz & swing band formed by three brothers, perfect for that special event…
Playing music from the 1920’s to the 50’s, including Parisian Waltzes, hot swing and touches of Latin and bossa nova, played in the distinctive style of gypsy jazz guitar legend Django Reinhardt. This up and coming band are quickly making a name for themselves across the Midlands and London, so make sure you catch them playing at Retro Festival!"
