We’re planning a trip to Italy just after Easter and ‘were’ looking to take the tunnel and drive down through Belgium, Germany and Switzerland as we had last done about 5 years ago…
I was speaking to someone earlier who had done ‘some research’ into doing a similar trip and said that legislation had been passed fairly recently that made this trip more onerous / demanding than it had previously been for drivers of vans over 3.5mt.
Our Motorhome is 4.5mt, so I wondered if anyone who had recent experience could shed some light on what is now required (and what you really need to do)?
Apologies if this is covered on other posts but I’d really appreciate any advice…
Many thanks
Ian

Do you mean the EuroTunnel, or toll roads, or Alps tunnels?

Switzerland have a Vignette thing.

Sorry I can't be of more help, I'm sure someone else will know.

I may be reading your question wrongly. Do you mean over 3500kg?

Switzerland has a PVSA "ticket" system to pay for the road trip. Very easy. Just download their Via app on your phone and there are 4 options of payment for motorhomes over 3.5t. Probably best for you would be the the "10 individual days". That costs 32.50CHF and you pay it via the app.

Switzerland has recently changed its PVSA system so check current status, but it is still not very expensive to transit.

Of course, Belgium and German M/ways are free, so not much to worry about.
