Replacing Truma with diesel heating & hot water

We recently swapped our Truma gas/electric 6 combi for a new gen Diesel/electric 6 combi, swap over done at the Truma HQ at Derby. Job took 4 days, footprint of boiler exactly the same, exhaust the same, new digital controller. In terms of operation, there is a slight ticking noise from the fuel pump but not intrusive. As others have mentioned consumption seems negligible, Van is toasty and we only use gas for cooking now.
Did you have to take out a mortgage for the job? What happened to your old boiler?

They kept my old boiler for parts and gave an allowance off the price of the new. Could have kept it and sold it on eBay but too much hassle and we have nowhere to store it.
Labour was £500 plus the net cost of the boiler, so expensive but ok.

£500 for 4 days labour/work seems a bit on cheap side. 😳
Yes, sorry, dropped the van off on the Monday morning and picked it up on the Thursday, we are Edinburgh based so train up and down. Don’t know how many hours they worked on it.

Not wanting to encroach on you're post , but anyone else think it would be brilliant if motorhomes had accessible inspection hatches for all major components water/ heaters behind fridges etc . Or is it just me . All tutorials covering all these things are all conveniently on models with easy access
Too blooming right. My Truma would need half the interior on one side of the van to be dismantled to get at anything at all, including the reset button/fuse. I can't even see it let alone reach it. Same with engines. No thought seems to be given to "what if" scenarios.

Agreed, ours has good access under the front settee, was a straight lift out and in, only had to move the cushions!!

What happens bout the fridge ??
They seem to be mostly compressor fridges in vans that offer this as an option or by default.

But anyone swapping will still need gas for hob, oven etc.
