Replacement engine for vauxhall movano

reusing consumable parts on a different engine/vehicle is always a gamble. A new clutch and waterpump are as essential as new oil and filters from my experience. It depends on the age and condition of the turbo whether you just refurbish it or replace. But from your posts it sounds like it will be knackered

Update .....

Waiting for the refurb turbo to be refurbished as the refurbisher didn't have one in stock. Core needed from Europe???

End if the week I'm told.

Frustrated but I can't go anywhere I suppose!

Cheers James

After nearly 3 months the garage who have been fitting my new engine which I brought from a specialist have announced that its a dud?

I'm not sure that it is or they are incompetent to fit it?

Ok they needed a turbo and a staff member got covid, which I have been patient with but for them now to complain that the engines a dud is a bit disappointing.

They say it's leaking by the oil seals sonewhere.

They want me to find another engine...

The engine is almost out of 3m waranty!!

What do I do? How do I get the vehicle off them without paying them a grand for nothing?

I doubt the engine supplier will refund me as it was ok when they sent it out?

Perhaps I can get them to sort it as they do engine refits.

Any ideas?

Apart from a new l3h2 van lol!!

Cheers James

Hmmmm. Old thread which I did follow but now a bit rusty.....
Where did new engine come from... out of a scrappy or a refurb.. if latter and a reputable one I would like to think they would be sympathetic..
Surely 3month warranty is running but the way I read your post it has not even got that far.
I sympathise with your predicament but I think you need to go back to engine supplier.

Ask a price on them making the engine good ?

Contact the seller of the engine, and start having a polite discussion. It is still under warranty, just, but the seller, and his attitude, may at least give you an idea if engine or garage is an issue. They may also be interested in assisting you getting it sorted, to keep their reputation. Worth a call.
